Mixed Point Reservations

I have 250 points at Vero Beach, If I buy 50 additional points at Boardwalk, can I reserve Boardwalk 7 months in advance and use my 50 plus some of my 250 Vero points? Or can I only book 50 points worth at 7 months and the rest at 11 months?

At 7 months you can reserve at any resort using any points and thus you can use both Vero and BWV points to reserve anywhere. It is the 11 month window for which you can only use points from the home resort (you can use Vero to reserve Vero, BWV points to reserve BWV, but you cannot use the Vero points at BWV or the BWV points at Vero)

points from your VB contract will only be good for reserving VB at 7 months through 11 months out. inside of 7 months, you can use pts from your VB contract anywhere there is availability.

it doesn't matter if you buy contracts at other home resorts or not. at 11 months out, VB pts are only good at VB.

(and the same applies to other home resorts, your BWV pts are only good for reserving BWV at 11 months, not VB or anywhere else.)

Thanks everyone. It's been a LONG morning and I realize in my original question that I reveresed 7 month and 11 month. But I still understand the answers....thanks again!!

Note that you can borrow and/or bank your BWV points even if you don't do the same with your VB points.

So if you bank one year and borrow another, you could potentially book 150 points at BWV at 11 months.

I think you could swap those out with VB points at 7 months BUT the banked and borrowed points stay in the use year of the reservation and cannot be banked, borrowed nor transferred.

Not sure why you'd want to do that unless say you wanted to book 150 points at BW early in your UY and then another 150 later. Like this for example:

UY Feb

In March, book 150 point stay at BW in Feb (with banked and borrowed points)

In July, swap VB points (this can be tricky if it is a busy time - your cancellation could potentially be grabbed by someone else I think)

In July, book another 150 stay at BW for June.

I've mixed points from my BLT & VGC contracts for a stay 1.5 weeks ago with no problems; booked it about 3 months in advance. Also involved borrowing some points from next year. I knew where I wanted the points to come from but I'm sure MS would have helped me decide which ones to use if I hadn't.

Just don't forget that things will be easier for using points together if they are all part of the same membership. If you buy from Disney that should be automatic, but if you buy resale you'd need to make sure you got the same UY and had the deeds and other paperwork written up to match your existing membership and specify that it is to be included under that member #, etc. (Not sure of the exact terms with the resale, hopefully you get the idea...)
