Hoping all will go well with your relatives.

My aunt & uncle were burned out in Grass Valley some years ago. The fire changed direction & they had very little time to evacuate. TG, there were no people injuries & most of their livestock escaped! They did rebuild~
While we do have relatives in southern CA, so far they are out of the way.

Oh, Liz, I'm so sorry to hear about yr Aunt & Uncle's restaurant:sad2:
The IRS can be extremely difficult (almost impossible) to deal with, can't it?
:grouphug: to them & you & your Mom!

CPM
Um Liz, I think you should go buy something pink and sparkly.

Oh, yeah! :cheer2:

Hmm..Rob is still making up for lost time in the salt mines?

Hi Blue-y! Hi Peejy Weejy!

Guess I got The Cure out of my system earlier this morning...

"You can tell from the scars on my arms
And the cracks in my hips
And the dents in my car
And the blisters on my lips that I'm not the carefullest of girls
You can tell from the glass on the floor
And the strings that are breaking
And I keep on breaking more
And it looks like I am shaking
But it's just the temperature
Then again if it were any colder I could disengage
If I were any older I would act my age
But I don't think that you'd believe
It's
Not
The
Way
I'm
Meant
To
Be
It's just the way the operation made me"

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?...

It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood,
A neighborly day for a beauty.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?...

I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you.
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?
Won't you please,
Won't you please?
Please won't you be my neighbor?

Mr. Rogers meets the Dresden Dolls??? Man, I wish I could see that...

Speaking of Mr. Rogers...a week or two ago, I got Neil Gaiman's Mr. Punch graphic novel, and now I am so creeped out by puppets. If I ever see the Neighbourhood of Make-Believe again, you will probably find me in the fetal position in a corner, sucking my thumb and whimpering.

As much as I love Mr Rogers (and I watch the Neighborhood when I'm blue), one of the most uncomfortable moments I've ever had was watching the Tom Synder Mr Rogers piece, where Fred makes Tom interview him as the King:scared1:

Yep, right along with the clown weirdness is the ventriloquist's dummy & marionette creepiness :scared:

Liz, puppets can steal your soul when you least expect it!

I'm off, PM meeting and it promises to be a real fanny breaker! :scared1:

Seeing as how Neil Gaiman is so popular...there's a CD called Where's Neil When You Need Him?, with songs based on his work. Of course there's a song called Mr. Punch...I just listened to it again, and I'm really freaking creeped out now.

Somebody hold me... :scared1:

Goofster....I'm so sorry to read about all of that. Prayers said.
:grouphug:

Cheryl....Have a GREAT trip!!!!
:cheer2:
I have it on good authority that Cheryl is walking to Epcot for dinner in Italy tonight. :goodvibes

Liz....Feeling rather musical today?

Jean....since you're the Mr. Rogers expert....what was with him walking in the house everytime and taking one sweater off just to put another one on? Do you know what I'm talking about? I never got that.

Rob...you only made one post and it was about sports so I really don't have anything to work with for you.

Good Morning Nutters,

First thanks for all the good wishes, prayers and thoughts, they are appreciated.

As of this morning things are still bad out here in Southern California,
There are at least 12 fires still burning out of control
10’s of thousands of acres have been burned
100's of thousands of people have been evacuated
1,000’s of Homes and Business destroyed
A number of injuries have been sustained by those fighting the fire
Deaths related to the fire are still holding at 1, looking at the pictures this is a miracle

My SIL/BIL and Nephew evacuated from their house in Foothill Ranch to my MIL’s in Anaheim.

My oldest Daughter was in Del Mar at her boyfriends parents house and they were under Mandatory Evacuation orders last night, so they came back up to our house.

So everyone is safe in our family, a bit on edge, but safe.

Here is a graphic of the fires as of this morning

As you can see a number of these fires have merged into each other.

Between them and earthquakes, I'm afraid that California is going to disappear before our lives are over...

I have a coworker who is originally from Malibu. He moved back out a few years ago, then moved back here a year or two ago. I know his parents are still there. I should ask.

Okay, seriously, what does it take to get a boss to notice that certain employees are not pulling their weight??? Val is on vacation this week, so it's just me and Psycho Sue. First of all, she waltzed in at 8:22 a.m. and proceeded to complain about how she couldn't find a parking space (the lot is being repaved, so they are lining latecomers up at the loading docks). The first thing we're supposed to do in the morning is reprocess orders that have pricing discrepancies and release them. Sue refuses to do Val's, so it took me over an hour to do those, then I had to do my own. Now, when it comes to actually entering orders and sending them to the factory...I've checked the order queue; at noon today, I've done over 100 orders, and Sue has done SIX. Yep, SIX. She barely sat down at her desk until 11 a.m., and when she was there, she was singing along with the iPod, or on the phone chit-chatting (and it wasn't work-related, that's for sure). Right now, she's on the other side of our room, leaning against a file cabinet, and talking to the girls over there about how she's the only person in her house who takes out the garbage.

Gee, wish I could take out the garbage here...

I admit, I get really irritated when people pay more attention to what others are doing than their own work - ask certain friends of mine - but I can see why it's equally irritating when your coworkers aren't doing their work.

Keith -- Good to hear that everyone is safe. Prayers and best wishes for you and your family as SoCal goes through this.

Been there before Liz, what was even worse was I was appointed acting Manager of the group for 18 months and tried to get rid of the dead weight and the Director wouldn't let me.

Thanks Rob,
There are a lot of people out here who need them.

They are saying that if we can get through today the weather should turn for the better tomorrow and aide in the contain of the fires

Someone on our radio station here this morning asked why the feds weren't being called in, with planes or helicopters or what-have-you...but I heard some states were sending help? Anything on that?

I did hear that we are supposed to getting 800 or so National Guardsmen and I think 4-6 Military Aircraft capable of Fire Fighting.

I hope soon or the way it is burning to the ocean we can wait for the Crashing Surf to put the flames out.

Now don't get me wrong the crews that are working 24 hours a day now are doing everything they can and it is appreciated, but unfortunately there are too few of them and too much fire.

Oh, that goes without saying! There is no way ground crews can fight fires like this. That's why this person was saying, they need to get up in the air, and they need as much assistance as possible in order to do it.

And the station also did this little "comedy" bit with "Governor Schwarzenegger" (sorry for all the quotes), blaming himself because he threw his cigar out the car window. Uh, yeah...not funny.
