Mixed Nuts Part 2

Just given you guys a little look at what my new hairchick just about did to me about an hour ago!!!!! That woman lobbed off at least 3 flippin' inches of my hair!!!!!!!


Okay....It's not too bad...I'll admit, kinda trendy-cute! Just can't remember the last time my hair was not much past my shoulders!!!! Gonna take some getting used to, me thinks!! At least it still goes up in a pony!!!! I LIVE in a ponytail!!!!!

I WAS doing okay before, as I was able to put it in a ponytail, like I said.....BUT....it's NOT working for the PIGTAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE doing the little girl pigtail thing sometimes!! You know, with the private school short kilt, crisp, white blouse, knee socks, lollipop.........

I don't get it. Some weeks back, I tried loading a music video to my mp3 player, from off the original CD. It said I had to convert the video, but every time I did, it would tell me that it couldn't be converted.

Well, tonight, without doing one single thing differently, I tried again. Somehow, this time it converted and loaded to the player. I'm confused.

WELL, what I MEANT to say was that I've met 2 actual certifiable nuts. You know, really crazy people. You were so normal compared to them that you don't fall into the nut category. Maybe you're a mixed nut but you're not off the deep end like them. Yes, that is exactly what I meant to say.

I just got home from the Kenny Chesney/Sugarland concert. It was AMAZING. I took my baby sister as a bonding experience and then we went to ihop afterwards and had the kind of serious conversations that can only take place in an ihop at 1am. It was so nice to spend time with her.

Kenny Chesney is my number one favorite entertainer. Ever. Sugarland is in my top 5. So this was like a dream concert for me. It was outside and it was pouring rain for the first 2 hours but I didn't even care. GREAT music!! I'll post some pictures tomorrow if I remember.

I have insomnia tonight. I found out one of my buddies will be in Disney World the week after us in October. He's a Disney newbie, so he emailed me for some pointers. He's going to treat his wife - it'll be their first vacation in 5 years or so. So tonight I wrote up a "short" 11 page Word document for him.

Also,
Late this afternoon, the state budget committee finally posted the designer selections for all the upcoming work for the fiscal year. It was a month late in coming. Our firm was awarded one project, $3.3million construction budget, which equates to a hefty fee for us at the state's mandated fee schedule. That much I can tell you, as it's public record. We don't know *exactly* what the project is yet (as it's just a line item), but some of us drive by the project site daily and people talk in this town. We can gather enough from scuttlebutt and idle talk to have a pretty good idea of what it is. And I can *guess*. So my *guess* is that it is a renovation project for a large agricultural department in one of our state universities - modernizing a building. Anyway, this one project will carry us, by itself, for four months of operating expenses. That equals the best position our firm has been in for the last year and a half. Every other project will be icing on the cake, in the meantime.

The other two projects we were vying for have been punted down to subcommittees to determine feasibility / budgetary concerns. Basically that means they still want to do those projects, but they're not sure if they'll be able to do them in the upcoming year. By state law, they have to make designer selections in the next couple of months (9/30 is their drop-dead date), but don't have to appropriate funding this year. And since those have been noted as being approved as line-items, they WILL do them, just not have a firm timeline. It could be this upcoming year, or two years, or five years... They don't really like to have projects sitting around on back-burners, because it can look bad to their constituencies and it's all political stuff in the end.

So I've been noodling out how we're going to assign people to work on this one project (while I've been writing my Disney World guidebook tome). And serve all of our existing clients. It will mean lots of overtime in the short-term for a lot of us. Oh well, I'd much rather worry about having too much work than not enough...

I'm really not sure what to make of the fact that you know all these different types of hairbrushes. If you ask me, a brush is a brush.
