I'm a horrible friend. I really don't want to go to my friend's wedding on Saturday. I don't enjoy weddings in general (not even for the free food and booze). I've had a number of appointments this week and I'm physically exhausted. I hate dressing up. My mother and I have numerous things to do before she has surgery, and frankly, this one day will make it difficult to get those things done.

I'm still going to go - I know it's rude to not show up, not to mention how much it would hurt her if I wasn't there, so of course I'm going. I'm just complaining for the moment.

No, you have to call and schedule a special pick up for that stuff. Apparently in Ohio we don't throw away as many recliners and refrigerators whereas in LittleKC y'all are tossing them out left and right.

No, just every two months! KC used to do it like you described and our city staff did an analysis and found that it was cheaper to drive the "heavy trash pickup" routes and just hit every home that might have something out on their assigned day than it was to respond to individual calls for pickup on a random basis at various spots sprinkled throughout the city (possibly because we are one of the largest cities -- by square miles -- in the United States). And, might I add, this has been a fascinating topic of discussion.
