Misunderstood song lyrics?

Another one here for Elton John. Instead of "Lay me down in sheets of linen" I thought it was,"lay me down and she said splendid." My friend thought that in Unchained Melody, when he sings Hunger, Hunger, he was singing Homegirl, Homegirl.

I generally mess up all the words, but the only one I remember off the top of my head was the Beatles "Lucy in the sky with Diamonds" I always thought the part about the girl with kaleidoscope eyes was saying the girl with colitis goes by. I could never figure why they would sing about something like that.

Probably the most misunderstood lyric of all time...

The Manfred Mann rendition of Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light."

Many thought the lyric said "Yeah, he was blinded by the light
Cut loose like a douche, another runner in the night."

The actual lyric was "Yeah, he was blinded by the light
Cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night."

I can remember some radio stations actually banning the song over misunderstood lyrics.

That is the one I hoped someone would post, cause everytime time I hear that song I am thinking that is what is said and I go...WTH? lol

Well WTH does scaramouch mean?

EDITED: Here's your vocab lesson for the day. It means "boastful or cowardly man" - archaic (duh)

So now I understand the WHOLE song. It makes perfect sense. I can sleep tonight.

When my youngest was about 5 one Christmastime, I heard him singing
"Release Mommy Now!" He was singing along to "Feliz Navidad!" Now every year we all sing his goofed up lyrics.
