We visited on a really hot day, and the water mist heads were really welcome. RSR had them, and I think Soarin'. I didn't really notice many other locations that had them. They also did a brisk business selling spray bottles with fans.

Could they install more of these things?

They certainly could, however they are maintenance nightmares. You have to de-calcify the heads all the time or they just start dripping instead of misting.

Might be tough with Anaheim water. However, they would probably used a heavy duty water softener. Wouldn't replacing the heads be the easiest solution?

I think that there should be one in DL because DCA has one, but otherwise, no I wouldn't want more. Being misted doesn't make me feel any cooler. I prefer a "dry" heat to creating humidity. Having the mist on my skin just makes me miserable. I don't use those spray bottles and I don't like it when people spray me with them. If they asked, the answer would be no. I'd rather just sweat a little and let the sweat evaporate naturally than mist myself with water that may not evaporate. I don't think that having various places with water mist is going to help the situation in the parks. With one in each park and misting bottles for sale and people being allowed to bring their own misting bottles I think that being misted is fully covered for those who would like to partake.

Most people who have misters have two sets of heads... one to use while your other heads are sitting in vinegar being rejuvenated...

I wished they had those misting stations. USH has those huge fans when you walk by with mist pouring out of them which is great!

I don't remember if they're still there, but here's a photo of the big one in front of Soarin'.

You can clearly see the lime scale deposits. I lived in a town that used well water, and water quality reports had calcium and magnesium levels off the charts. And well water is what Anaheim uses.

Didn't it used to also blast super cooled mist through the middle too? I feel like I recalled that.

It is pretty much anywhere. Phoenix is horrible for this as well. We use white vinegar all the time to clean things.

I think the Soarin one got removed when they re-themed the area. But that picture made me remember the one that IS in Disneyland at Red Rocket's Pizza Port under the rocket out front! It isn't a continuous mist, but it has a sequence that it goes through to provide mist at 'blast off'!

Minsters are nice and all but now is not really a good time for California businesses to up their water usage.

I'm not sure how things are different in anahiem, or with a big buisness like Disney, but California is still in a drought and last year the situation was near crisis level causing mandated water use restrictions and mandated water use reductions statewide. There were places in California that actually ran out of water. This would have a big impact Disney adding more things that would use up water. Last year California rain levels were lower than anything in seen in over a hundred years statewide. I heard a lot of estimates that it would take 5 or more years of greater than average rainfall to get CA out of its drought, so it is certainly no where near out of trouble right now water wise. We had Decent rain year this year but having a record breaker after several straight years of milder drought has left California's water supply in a not so good place.

In my town were were only able to water our lawns twice a week for 5 minutes and could be ticketed if we had run off. At my work they were fined for not decreasing thier water use by the percentage that were supposed to. Disney likely can get away with a lot of things smaller businesses and residences couldn't but, not even Disney can get away with wasting substantially more water when there is so much pressure and even new laws and regulation about decreasing water use.

Anaheim is primarily supplied by ground water. Disneyland takes steps to conserve water.

Misting wouldn't be a huge use of water. I think keeping guests cool could also be a safety issue.

Disney has made steps but Californians are under a lot of pressure to conserve more, more more.

I have my own well on my property and my own water rights but even People who own their water rights are under a lot of pressure to conserve and there has even been talk of the government trying to meter and control usage of privately owned wells and water rights. It's a pretty crazy time for water in California. though safety can be an issue I wouldn't underplay the role of water restrictions on Disney business decisions. Big I business water wasters have even been publicly shamed in the news so it could even be a PR issue. It is a big thing around these parts.

They must be common at SFMM because people would get heat stroke without them.

The misting area outside Soarin is still there, but it was turned off today. Sometimes there's a ODV cart blocking it. The misters are so high that it's kind of useless if there's even the slightest bit of wind. They had the misters turned on in the line today. I spent the majority of the outside time on the far side of the building, near the propeller plane, with no shade. Then the misters were on in the shaded area in front of the building, just before you go inside. The wind was blowing them to the switchback lane just before going inside. So no mist in the sun, only the shade, and most of it was hitting people just before going indoors. It wasn't the hot today, high 80s, I would have been fine without the turned on.

Same.

But, at least when I've experienced misting stations in lines (not at disneyland, but at Universal Orlando) they are always paired with heavy duty fans, so they are creating the mist and then forcefully blowing it dry.
