Mister Disney & the K-Man's Not Quite Ready for Prime Time Dining Experience

We loved the the 50's PT!

The server's introduce themselves as 'cousins', etc.... We started out with Cousin Stephanie. I didn't warn my kids (10, 6, 4) ahead of time about what to expect. It was my first time- so I wasn't real sure either. She acted like she knew us, "HEY! How have you been? Wow- are these the kids? They have gotten so big! Look at you (to my son)- what grade are you in now? etc...." After she left with our drink orders, all 3 asked at the same time- "who is that?- Which cousin is she?-How does she know us?" It was hilarious!
For some reason, we switched servers to Mama Sue. She was AWESOME! She didn't pick on the kids since they were kinda confused about the whole 'family' thing. They thought we had found some long lost relatives! Dh played into all the joking around- it was fun. An example: DH asked her @ the location of the restroom. As he was leaving the room, she yelled at him "Make sure you flush the toilet this time!!" Of course, he laughed (and our kids!)! I can see how some people might be embarrased. I think the servers only 'play' with the people that 'bite' back.

The GOOD servers "play" with people.......we happen to have a DUD with Uncle Tom. Regardless of how we tried to "engage" him, he didn't respond.

I think as has been mentioned.....your experience at 50's PT will be TOTALLY dependant on the luck of the draw with regards to "servers".

I would like to think that Kevin and I are NOT hard to get along with or like or for that matter PLAY WITH....

jeez....we play ALL the time on here on the DIS....we're WORSE in person with regards to kidding around.

Mr. Disney, I can't believe you didn't let Kevin get smiley fries! NO WONDER he didn't enjoy his meal!

Kevin, next time we are all at the World you can dine with DS! You will savor only the most delectable mac & cheese the Mouse House has to offer, and of course, you will delight in the delicate, crispy goodness of smiley fries! Each evening your dinner will be topped off by PLAIN vanilla ice cream in a bowl. No syrup, no sauce, no chocolate crown, no sprinkles, no cone, PLAIN vanilla ice cream. :teeth: The only way to know which places are the best is to order the same thing everywhere you go. At least that seems to be DS's theory...

You'll be happy to know that Mister Disney and I just finished dishes of ice cream. He his Butter Pecan and me ... PLAIN VANILLA ... no syrup, no sauce, no nothing!

Our dogs sat by patiently waiting for the empty bowls to be placed on the floor so they could lick them clean. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Mister Disney's Mom's Pot Roast Recipe
Start with a 7 bone (bone in) chuck roast, about 3 inches thick. Ask your butcher to cut one this thick. Usually the stores have them, but much thinner.

FREEZE it solid, at least overnight.

Preheat your oven to 225°

place Frozen roast in a deep roasting pan (The bottom of the broiler pan usually works well)

Sprinkle on top of the roast liberally with 2 packets of Lipton Onion Soup Mix.

seal completely with tin foil.

place in over and cook for 6 - 7 hours.

Serve with mashed potatoes.

If you add a bottle of beer to that recipe, I'll guarantee it is 1000x better. Your recipe is the same as mine minus the beer. Sam Adams Octoberfest is my favorite.

You gotta love a guy who knows how to treat a pup right :lovestruc

Did they give ya the full body wag as you were forking over the eats? Nothing quite as cute as a furkid about to get a snack.

Onion Soup mix is a wonderous thing. I add it to lean ground meat and then grill it up and it is too good!! :thumbsup2

I once ate at a place called Dick's Last Resort in Myrtle Beach where they insult you. By the time I got done with them they gave me an employment application along with the bill. :lmao:

Guess while I might not be in you demographics I am just plain 'different". :rolleyes1

Life would be so boring if everyone were just alike and I do not do boring well. :grouphug:

Slightly Goofy

I agree that the server makers all the difference at PT, our first time there our "babysitter" was getting all the tables involved with each other and even tried to set my DS up on a date with a girl from another family (he said she needed to get over her crush on him and therefore was trying to find someone else for her).

I can't remember his name but he was really good and as soon as he found out DS had just had his braces tightened and couldn't comfortably chew food he didn't give a hard time about eating but still made him follow all the other rules.

Our 2nd time the server wasn't as good but did play it up a little bit because we played it up with him, but honestly on the 2nd time, we went for the food (we like green beans). Everything we have had there has been great, I think everyone just has different tastes in food and you can't please everyone all of the time.

Mister Disney! I've been waiting for this as I've been having food review withdrawls. This is sooo funny and howdy K-Man! I love the tag team commentary!

A man after my own heart - I thought I was the only person who liked plain vanilla ice cream!

My husband doesn't understand, but I just tell him I don't like stuff in my food. :teeth:

DS will be so pleased that someone else sees merit to his dessert choice! :teeth:

No dogs around here, just cats. A certain cat who likes to LEAN over into my bowl from her perch on the back of the sofa. One of these days she is going to go face first into the bowl.

Hey! There's something to like about 50's for those of you who didn't care for it! There absolutely will not be a cat about to fall into your dessert! :rotfl2:

you guys are crazy and its such a hoot!! :hyper:

Fantastic review and play-by-play.

Just a short note about the servers. We had one at Whispering Canyon who was fantastic. They must know it because he had 50% of the clientell at Breakfast! The only mistake he made was on our change when he shortchanged us by $4.00. I explained it to him and he said he wasn't worried because they straighten out the money at the end. He was more interested in finding out if we were entertained by him and the staff. He was working his butt off, yet he cared more about our enjoyment than the possible ramifications to his pocket! He made a good meal great!
