Mister Disney & the K-Man's Not Quite Ready for Prime Time Dining Experience

I was relieved to see they use yukon gold style potatoes, which are my personal favorites. Oh course they were thick and lumpy as I recall growning up. Some people remember smooth whipped mashed potatoes...I on the other hand always had the lumpy variety.

The green beans?
HORRIBLE....over cooked limp things...no way no how was I going to eat those and Kevin refused as he did with the Applesauce at POP Century.

The fried chicken was good. Super Crispy and juicy, just the right herbs and spices....wait....did I walk into Kentucky Fried Chicken?!?!?

The pot roast on the other hand, MAJOR disappointment! It just did not have enough flavor, although very tender. I guess i was hoping for my mother's pot roast recipe which just falls apart and melts in your mouth.....

Mister Disney's Mom's Pot Roast Recipe
Start with a 7 bone (bone in) chuck roast, about 3 inches thick. Ask your butcher to cut one this thick. Usually the stores have them, but much thinner.

FREEZE it solid, at least overnight.

Preheat your oven to 225°

place Frozen roast in a deep roasting pan (The bottom of the broiler pan usually works well)

Sprinkle on top of the roast liberally with 2 packets of Lipton Onion Soup Mix.

seal completely with tin foil.

place in over and cook for 6 - 7 hours.

Serve with mashed potatoes.

Hey that's MY mama's recipe. Except we do not freeze it & use Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix. YUMMY!

With as much attitude as the plates were delivered, they were snatched from the table. Uncle Thomas turned on his heels and quickly left "Hell's Kitchen".

With no fear of being kicked, I jumped to my feet and announced to the cousins still in the kitchen ... "HA, HA, HA, HA ... we got away with not eating ANY of OUR GREEN BEANS!"

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

FOOOOM ... a head appeared in through the dining room ... it was Uncle Patrick!

"You are VERY BAD BOYS! Not only am I telling about the green beans, but I'm telling GRAM MAMA about the jewelry!"

Not only were we not in Kansas, but somehow I get the feeling we weren't the only relatives of "different demographics". :rotfl:

Prime Time is one of DH and I's favs, we had "Uncle Charlie" who was the best server ever, and our cousins and I after introductions etc chatted all night and ended up spending the rest of our week together, (they are from Chicago, we are from UK) we are now planning to meet up again next year, so I will always be gratefulto Prime Time for giving me some wonderful friends.

We must be brothers seperated at birth!!!! Are you of different demographics also? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

FOOM ... his head disappeared.

PLOP ... Uncle Thomas was back with the bill.

QUICK ... pay the bill and let's get Back to the Future! :moped: :moped:

This sounds more like Pan Roast than Pot Roast :lmao:

The ride on the monorail back to the GF was a fast one. We both had our room keys out. It was a fight to see who was going to put it in the elevator first. QUICK ... press "4".

BING

4th Floor!

BUFFET!

We raced to the tables, grabbed plates and piled the concierge food high.

Thank the Lord for Chocolate Chip Cookies. :sunny:

or sister ;)

Hmm...and our demographics couldn't be any more different

The food is the food. There's no changing that part of the review.

However, our experience truly would have been different if we had been seated in Uncle Patrick's dining room instead of Uncle Tom's Kitchen.

All the Mom's we talked with before we were seated were great as was Uncle Patrick. Kudo's to Uncle Patrick!

Uncle Tom, well, he should have called in sick that Saturday. From CT, we sprinkle him with Pixie Dust :wizard: and hope he's having better days or moves to a job at the drive through window at Jack in the Box.

So we jumped into the convertible PT Cruiser like Batman and Robin and flew out of the MGM parking lot ... wind blowing through our hair ... :moped: :moped:

OH WAIT ... I left my hair ... NO my hair left ME ... back in the 80s ... never mind ... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sounds like Thomas needed a time out!

Note to self:
Ask for Patrick when we go to 50's in August with our "demographically different" friends!

I am sorry you didn't enjoy your meals! DH had meatloaf, I had the shrimp pasta, and DS had something that was served with smiley fries - the entree escapes me. He was so impressed with the fries I can't remember what else he ate! Everything was good, and the dessert was REALLY good. I had the angel food cake with fresh strawberries and ice cream. Yummmm.

I do think the server can make a big difference. Our waitress was VERY nice, but not in character. The waitress at the next table was more into it, but her tables had pretty large groups.

Oh, well! At least you can say you've been there! On to the next challenge!

It's amazing how much bad service can affect a meal. We had a dud of a waitress on our last visit to 50s PT and I'm a little afraid to return but I think my ILs will really enjoy it. I need to do some searches on here and find out who to request.

I really liked the fried chicken, too. Yum.

Smiley Fries?

Um ... Mister Disney ... you did not tell me there were Smiley Fries on the Menu!

:rotfl2:

Can't believe you skipped out on the desserts!

When we ate there (the same time you were there in '05 for Star Wars Weekend) we had a so-so waitress. She was semi in-character, but we had to coax it out of her. She was really just playing it up with DP and I, not so much the other 6 people in our group.

Anyway, you should have at least stayed for the smoores! They were YUMMY!!! However, I guess you made up for it at the Bistro! :thumbsup2

BTW, what's up with the "geographically different" selections of restaurants? I'm used to reading about V&A, Narcoossee's, and lucious desserts in your room at the GF, etc... and now I'm reading about 50sPT and the food court at POP! Have you gone mad? :rolleyes1 Don't you know we live vicariously thru your food explorations and pictures....?

Oh and keep those reviews coming... us demographically different folks enjoy reading your reviews!

Was that before or after taking the boat to the parking lot? :rotfl:

Oh, and I guess you technically could have taken the monorail back to the GF.... you could have gotten on the boat and headed over to Epcot (though that might have sparked a stop at the Boardwalk Bakery), then hiked to the front entrance and grabbed the Monorail over to the Ticket and Transport, then on to GF from there! It could happen!
