I just wanted to second the above recommendations of the World War I museum and the Truman Presidential Library and Museum. I've been to a lot of history museums around the country and the WWI museum in KC is top-tier. I'd also recommend the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in KC as well. It's only about a block away from Arthur Bryant's BBQ.... you can't do one without the other.
