Is it possible to do the attraction but not the actual ride. My daughter and I are planning to ride but while my wife is interested in the attraction she does not want to do the ride itself.
Thanks

You can go all the way through the pre-show and actually enter the capsule and change your mind and leave. So, she can see the pre-show but skip the actual ride. I don't believe there is a way for her to see the film that is part of the ride without actually riding it.

Tell her that she can go in the capsule, but that she won't actually have to ride it. Then when the ride starts let her enjoy what she would be "mission" out on. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'm J/J, but honestly I would try to get her to ride it. It is my favorite ride at DW and I think just an amazing experience. My DW was hesitant to ride, she gets motions sickness (supposdly, I think that is just her excuse, because she is a scardy cat), and did not want to ride. She was glad I forced her on though and liked it. However every time we go back and still have to drag her on :goodvibes .

There are also a lot of cool things to do in the post-ride area, which you can get to by walking in through the store on the other side.

While vacationing with Hubby, DD, niece and nephew we originally planned on skipping the ride because of the mixed reviews on this ride.
But once we were at EPCOT and saw how cool the outside of the ride looked (and there was only a 5 minute wait!!!) Hubby, nephew and I said "What the heck, lets try it!!!"
DD and niece held firm to the fact that they were NOT going to ride it.
They waited in line with us until it was time to board and then took the chicken exit with a CM.

If you try MS, be sure to keep looking at the screen (window) ahead of you the whole time. If you turn your head or look at the person next to you, you will get realllyyyy dizzy. Hubby is a major puker on spinny rides and he felt dizzy afterwards. He drank some Sprite after the ride and he felt better.

Good Luck! and have a fun time! :mickeybar

Absolutely ! Even before I went in to Mission Space I knew fully well that I was planning to chicken out at the last possible minute. The building and the surroundings are beautiful ! Great theming ! So I went through the whole process, and when we were lining up to actually go into the capsule, they asked people to raise their hands who were NOT actually going to ride. I raised my hand, and was shown the back exit. The post show area is really interesting, too. I'm so glad I got to see it, but I am sure that this ride is not for me.

Yes you can exit until the restraint comes down and the hatch closes. Trust me. I did not take the exit as it was offered probably six or seven time before the ride started. I am prone to motion sickness and was hesitant to ride. Our relatives told us how great the ride was so they "guilted" me into trying it.

The panic did not hit until the harness locked down and the hatch closed. My DW and I were in the capsule by ourselves and a strong wave of panic hit. But there was nothing to do but enjoy the ride! I located the barf bag (as a security blanket of sorts) and held my DW hand. I followed the instructions and focused on the screen and my "mission." I made it though without losing my stomach but it was close. Thank goodness for the cool air blowing on your face during the trip.

It was comical, in a way. At every queing spot, a warning would play about avoiding this ride if you have any conditions such as motion sickness, etc. Every stop, a few people would get out of line. By the time we got to the capsule, there were only about two people in each capsule.

The ride was awsome but it did make me unsteady for a few hours afterwards. i told my DW I would ride again in 7 or 8 years when the girls are old enough to ride (if they want to)

There's a cool Space Race game that requires a lot of people to play as you exit the pavillion. My DD and I played it and had a blast as we tried to get different colored gems to areas of the space shuttle to fix it so we could BOOOOOST! :)

My DS (12) is a major space junkie so I rode it on one of our trips. I felt like crap for the rest of the evening so on our last trip we decided that he would do it on his own. He doesn't know a stranger however so I didn't want him to be in line by himself and waited with him. I told the CM what I was doing and they had no problems with it. I was with him until the point where they asked who would/would not be riding. I was then escorted to the hall way and waited until his ride was finished. I got him a MS tee-shirt while waiting for riding it by himself.

The CM's at the Disney rides are fantastic about us chickens. You get to stay with your party and there is always a chicken door. Just ask I can probably point out most of them to you :rotfl2:
