What exactly is Mission Space? It is a simulated ride or an actual roller coaster or what? What is the height requirement for it?

It is not a "Simulator" in the aspect of "simulators" (like Star Tours and Body Wars) but it is not a roller coaster. It is more like a centerfuge (sp?).

The height requirement is 44 inches.

The ride is a centrifuge, but don't let that intimadate you. You do not feel any spinning. You are positioned in a "pod" with three others and each has a job like navigator, pilot, etc. You sit in a seat and the console moves towards you with lighted buttons, joy stick and a simulated window in front of you. If you are clastraphobic, this might not be the ride for you.

You are launched and you feel the g forces against you. Periodically you are given a button to push and when you do the ride appears to react to your command. It will do it even if you don't so don't worry about that. Anyway, by changing the speed of the centrifuge the sensations you feel are varied and in conjuction with what you are seeing through the "window".

It is a short ride but pretty intense. I highly recommend this ride. You will not find one like it anyplace else and it is worth the time to see. I hope this turns out to be a worthwhile investment for Disney because I would like to see more new things at the Worlds.

goofyernmost,

Great explaination of MS! Thank you!!!

How dizzy were you upon exiting the ride?

Not dizzy at all. I HATE simulators and centrifuge rides (heck I hate the tea cups) but I like Mission Space. You can not feel the actual spin at all. Just remember to do what they tell you, look at the video monitor...not side to side and don't close your eyes and you will be fine. You will not feel it spin, you just get the sensation of whatever is on the screen. It is pretty intense but it is fun. Like nothing you have ever done before (unless you have riden the centrifuge ride at the Kennedy Space Center.

I didn't feel dizzy at all. I am in my mid 50's so my inner ear isn't brand new but the only sensation I felt was a minor, minor unsteadyness when I got off the ride. Nothing else and it was only for a couple of seconds while my internal workings adjusted themselves to earths (excuse me, Mars) gravity.

Thanks goofyernmost for the explanation, I'm looking forward to trying it in May. I passed on it in December.
