Mission Space?

I think it's more fun that TT or Soarin'. I guess I'll just count myself lucky that I can't fathom the sickness this ride causes some. Never ridden the green side but I imagine it would be pretty boring. The cool thing about this ride is the feeling you get.

Rode Orange not long after it first opened... the only way that I would put myself through that again is if I actually got to travel to Mars. I didn't feel 'right' for hours.

My husband rode Orange a few years later and said he didn't think it was that bad.

I'd suggest playing it safe, so it doesn't mess up the rest of your day and Go Green! I don't think Green was even an option back when I first tried it. It was all or nothing.

I think Mission Space is the only ride at WDW we have never ridden. Never had any desire to and the kids never ask. My nephew has it marked as a must do on our upcoming trip and I'm curious. Would you consider this to be a simulator style ride? How would you rank the intesity? Some simulators make me sick, so I'm thinking I probably need to steer clear of it.
~I love Mission Space and it's much better than the tea cups! I was so afraid of MS: Orange -- where we wasted years riding only MS: Green. MS: Green was so boring to me, it was not intense or thrilling at all. But, it's great for little kids or anyone who wants to experience the ride without the motion (spinning).

~The warning signs and Gary Sinise is the most terrifying part of Mission Space for me! Seriously, the pre-show introduction is scarier than the ride itself. I've seen people exit right after the video!

~MS Orange is smooth but very intense. Just follow the advice given by keeping your head pressed firmly back against the head rest while looking straight forward -- and don't close your eyes -- just keep them open and focused on the screen.

~Don't worry if you don't operate the controls when prompted! The first time I rode MS: Orange -- I didn't even bother with the controls! :lmao:

I did the orange and didnt find it bAd. What i found horrible was the tOT sudden drop. That freaked me our, gave me a sudden headache. With Mission i was fine.

It has to be the best ride at WDW!! At least one of the most tech advanced! I really enjoy Mission Space, specially the Orange one. But I agree that it is very intense. Much more intense than any simulator. Although last time I build the most extreme roller coaster I could at Sum of All Fear and it felt pretty close.

I rode Orange once and LOVED it (I don't know if there was green then?) but also saw a poor little kid getting sick outside after. My kids adore spinning rides, the faster the better, is that the type of spinning it was? (I wish I could remember more, I remember the buttons and Gary Sinise, and maybe some sort of ?stopping? feeling or something once you get into space?

Anyway, wondering if teacup type ride fans will be ok...

Well... it's not a spinning ride in the sense of teacup spinning. The way the ride is set up, you don't actually know that you are spinning except for having the knowledge of 'that's how the ride works'. The spinning is there to create the g-force and to give you the sense of liftoff and hurling through space. Pun wasn't intended...but there it is.

Mission Space is my fav ride in Epcot, just love it. It really feels like your are taking off, soo much fun and I love all the items in the line too.

I did not feel sick from it, my mom said her stomach felt a little sick but nothing that did not leave her after a min or two.

Just keep you head back and look ahead and be ready to have fun!

DH & DD both get car sick. We did the green side & had no problem. It does get a little claustrophobic, but it's not bad.

Ohhh I see, so it feels like a Gravitron-type ride where you stick to the walls but you can't actually feel the spinning? I love those rides but rides like the teacups completely destroy me

That's it exactly; I'm in the same boat and rode the orange side with some trepidation but I did fine. If you ride it I suggest holding your head very still.
