Folks,
I thought I would post my experience on Mission Space. I get very queasy on simulator rides. I just make it through Star Tours, Body Wars I've only ridden twice (NEVER AGAIN!.) I am fine on roller coasters like Rockin Roller Coaster. Back to the Future at Universal is not for me either (this one I've only ridden once -- never again.)
Thanks to these boards, I got Meclizine HCl, USP 12.5 mg, Antiemetic, Tablets - 100 ea before I left. I took two on Saturday morning after eating some peanuts for breakfast -- I think around 10 a.m. I rode Mission Space a little after 11. My husband and two kids, who are all fine on simulators, also rode with me. They didn't take any medicine.
Me... Well, I question whether or not the medicine had time to work by then. At about 1 p.m. I got VERY tired. Slept through Ellen's Energy Adventure, and took a nap when I got back to the hotel... so I will NOT take two of those pills again. (I had to buy them from drugstore.com since they only had the very expensive bonine for sale at our local drugstores. I got 100 tablets for $3.99.)
I really liked Mission Space. I thought the liftoff was incredible. (I was whooping it up!) I started feeling "slightly" off when we went through the asteroid belt. I was "slightly" sweaty at the landing stage, but NOTHING like I am on Star Tours. As soon as the ride stopped, I was fine.
My husband, who is usually fine, thought it was very realistic -- so realistic it was slightly scary. He felt slightly "off" at the end of it, but was totally fine by the time we got to Mexico to eat lunch. He would go on it again.
My daughter, who is 9, was scared by the ride. She didn't feel sick... but just thought it was overpowering. She will go on it again if her cousins are with her.
My son, who is 6, thought it was awesome! He loved it! Wanted to go right back on it!
All of us pushed the correct buttons. (My daughter asked me what would happen if they didn't push it at the right time. I told her nothing (don't know if that is right), but they didn't even need prompting.)
I didn't see anyone getting off the ride sick, or in wheel chairs, etc.
I'm debating whether or not to try it without any medicine next time -- or only one pill. The "high" of the liftoff could sustain me, I think... (I wish they had a second scenario, maybe with aliens coming... so you needed "speed" to make it through to Mars rather than the back and forth of the asteroid belt.)
My advice, if you feel you have to take pills, is to only take the 12.5 dosage at first. (Some people mention 25 mg pills, try to get the 12.5 so you can lessen the amount to stop the drowsiness.)
Hope this helps someone!
