Mission Space: Very exciting news!!

How about the height requirement... dose anyone know what it is??? My nephew will be coming with us in August, and at 40 inches, it could go either way. Thanks!

Does anyone know how SICK this attraction will make the average rider feel?

mykidsmom - Mission SPACE will be at Epcot, where Horizons used to be. It is scheduled for grand opening in October but soft opening (meaning sometimes open, sometimes not, I think) in August.

I'll use the Passporter description - International Space Training Center. The new pavillion shapes up to be a thrill ride like no other, using four-person astronaut training centrifuges to simulate the forces of lift-off and zero gravity. Interactive, hands-on exhibits provide indepth follow-up training. 44" req.

Check for other Mission Space threads - with links to the official Disney site and non-Disney sites (like wdwmagic.com) that have more information and pictures.

Don't give up yet. I read on wdwmagic that there might be a soft opening in MID to late June. There's still hope.

WHEEEE!!!!!!
While I'm in Epcot...can I ask, or does it just happen?

My neighbor has been working on this project and said the ride will be in a soft opening this summer. However, only 2 of the 4 ride systems will be operational. This means the ride will be operating at only half of its total capacity. The wait times are likely to be quite long.

The height restriction is 44 inches since there is an over-the-shoulder restraint similar to the kind used on Alien Encounter.

It isn't for the faint of heart. The ride is large centrifuge with 10 cabins seating 4 people each. During the ride, the centrifuge spins you up to around 2 G's for an extended duration. You will really feel the G's. The cabin is also pretty small. If you are prone to claustrophobia, you should probably pass on this one.

The last I heard Aug 15 was a scheduled "soft opening" with an "official opening" in October. So if guest get to ride before Aug 15 it would have to be called a "pre-soft" opening, right?

Just read a post on another board by a family who were chose to test ride Mission Space. He said he loved it but it was really intense, made him a little ill. Said it made his DW extremely ill and frightened his children. Sounds like his family doesn't enjoy the big rides. They won't ride Tower of Terror or Rock 'n Roller Coaster.
He thought it was cool but his comment was " I think that if they don't take it down a notch or two, they are going to have a lot of sick guests." Said his kids didn't like the g force. The cool thing he said was at one point he said he felt weightless. His DW didn't feel this because her restraint was to tight.
Just thought you all would want to know. I still can't wait to ride it. I'll just be sure not to have lunch first!!!

Yes we will be there end of July and beging of August, I hope it is open by then! :)

Did he say how he was chosen or how many people were being chosen?
