Hey everyone,

Please forgive me for being repetitive, but I need a few more opinions from my fellow Disers before deciding if I will try Mission Space this August. I chickened out last August, but I might try it this time around.

My first question is - How fast does the ride actually go.

I have high blood pressure and I don't like rides that spin. How bad will this affect me.

Please give me some advice on if you think I can handel this ride.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know how fast for sure but for you to feel weight less on takeoff its going pretty fast. I have few problems with rides and that one toook me 20 minutes to feel normal again.

I dont go on rides that spin such as tilt a whirls. i went on mission space and was feeling queasy for about an hour. i have been on mission space three different times and i get the same feeling everytime, but i continue to go on it. i just make sure that i have no plans for other rides, such as test track immediately after it.

You don't really know you are spinning. If you look straight ahead like they tell you will be fine. I don't know about the blood pressure thing, but I think it is a great ride. I have ridden it 4x in a row and felt fine afterwards.

I am 22 years old and in perfect health. That said, this ride made me feel like I was going to die. It wasn't the motion sickness part, it wasn't the feeling dizzy, it was the I almost blacked out during the lift off. Everything started to shift (in my head) and I got tunnel vision during lift off. I was screaming so hard and so loud that I am surprised they didn't stop the ride. I will NEVER go on that again. WAY too intense.

I too chickened out this past April and my husband go on by himself. He has a stomach of steel and is affected by nothing. He liked the ride but said it the lift off lasted any longer he would have started to feel sick. He did not feel the ride spinning either. He said it was a good thing you didn't go on.

I also want to ride it but chickened out last summer :guilty: I will be there in 2 weeks...I really want to do it...my family said it was good...i don't mind the tea cups...but all the stuff people say makes me scared..i am afraid i will start to panic..i don't know why..i love Tower of Terror...I would also like to hear more opinions..thanks..amy ::yes::

Honestly, I went in with this preconcevied notion that if I think the ride is going to be REALLY bad, it won't really be as bad as I imagined. It was as bad as I imagined. I can handle being scared of what will happen next, getting queasy, but when my head starts to go crazy and I see black, shifty areas and start getting tunnel vision, it is no longer fun. Different people have different reactions so all I can say is try it for yourself. I am glad I tired it now, because I KNOW I will never do it again. I hate wishing I had done something. I say do it, but be prepared for a not-so-good feeling.

I'm diabetic with high blood pressure (taking meds for both) and I was a little scared to try this from what others said but I LOVED it! I felt like a tickle in my stomach at lift off but I never took my eyes off the screen and the feeling was of being weightless. I loved it, I went on later in the day because one of my party got nauseous on it, the biggest guy in the group! The kids and others (my age 50+) loved it. So it does affect everyone differently. All I could recommend is that you not eat immediately before it and hope for the best. I love most rides, rollercoaster, spinning, etc., but this one had me a little apprehensive because of what people were saying about the reaction with high blood pressure, but again, I didn't experience any negative reaction. I went at the end of August so it was really hot outside and it was about 11:00am. HTH :cool1:

I had no idea it spun either until I got off of it and looked backwards as I was getting off - you can see how it works. As I've posted before, I never get sick on rides, but this really got to me. Another minute in there and I would have utilized one of those barf bags. But my DD9 was not affected at all.

well, im 11 and i just went on it. it doesnt really spin it just swerves and dips alot. i think you would like it.right before i was about to go on it, i was afriad.but i went on it anyway and it ended up being my favorite ride in disney world! :cool1: :goodvibes :rotfl: :) :earboy2:

Whatever you do, do not shut your eyes or look away from the screen. That is when you feel the spinning. I love rides, and I am not usually ever referred to as a "chicken", but I may not ride this one again on my next trip. I can ride ToT, Aerosmiths RnR, Space Mountain -- no problem. I love those fast thrill rides. I've been known to get off and get right back on, especially on RnR if the line is short. That being said, I did not enjoy Mission Space that much. I felt odd afterwards for about 30 minutes. Dizzy and "spacey".

I was glad I tried it though, so you should too. Everyone's experiences are different on rides.

I can't do the tea cups anymore (which I used to love) but I love Mission Space. I don't feel the spinning at all.

My vote is to tell you to try it. Okay so you may feel sick, than life goes on. :rotfl: Let me tell you that I do NOT ride roller coasters, I'm deathly afraid of them. I don't like the feeling, where I'm low, but my stomach feels like it's still up; I also don't like zero gravity feeling. I can't ride spiny rides anymore, as I get nauseous.
However, I rode last June, and let me tell you, I made it out to be worse, than it really was. Just about when you are getting lined up, you have to wait, right outside the ride, and you now see the warning list, like the umpteenth time, which made me more nervous. My inures were saying, :worried: Run Run!
Well, I did it, and I'm glad I did. My warning would be, like you have heard others say and that's to ALWAYS look forward, at your screen. I just listened to the voice, since you have to pay attention, since each person in the vehicle, has a certain job. I did not see the vehicle spin at all. The only negative thing I felt like to me, wasn't the zero gravity, that I thought (maybe it is, but just to the major extreme) was I felt like my skin on my face  was going to fall off. There was a lot of pressure, like it forced you back in your chair. I guess since it's spinning so fast, it's hard to move around.
But like I said, I never "felt the spinning." Also, make sure you have the barf bag in front of your chair. I would recommend taking one, as you get off the ride. Because my only major complaint, was I felt dizzy. :faint: But it didn't last long at all! When I first stepped off the ride, I felt like I was :tilt: drunk, and was going to fall. So I hung on the wall, and walked slowly, and looked forward. Within 2 minutes I was fine.

I rode it last year. And I loved it. If you have ever gone to a county fair, it is just like the gravitron ride. It spins you around until you feel gravity pull on you. It isn't like the tea cups. I hate rides like the tea cups, which is a big reason I won't ride rides like that at a fair. MS spins around, but just look at the screen and you won't feel it. In fact, the only thing you will feel is the pull of gravity on you when you try to press your required buttons. It is a blast. The exit area gives you some stuff to do to let yourself settle down. I felt a little dizzy afterwards, but it was fine shortly after. Don't worry about the spinning, it just gives you a state of G's pulling you back.

I rode MS last year and absolutely LOVED it! I am 49 years old, high blood pressure, fear of heights, refuse to ride roller coasters of any kind, and hate rides that spin in circles! This is a ride that you are going to love or throw up on. LOL There doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

I just rode it last weekend. I usually get motion sick, but my husband convinced me that I would be fine. While I did not like the spinning, it was not the bad part for me. I hated the claustophobic feeling I had. I did not even know that kind of stuff bothered me. The only saving grace for me was to look straight ahead, concentrate on Gary Sinise's voice, and breath in the nice breeze of air that they have blowing on you.

Oh boy, I'm still not convinced...I don't know about this ride...

I really want to see it and experience what all the hype is about, but it seems everyone feels a little queezy or dizzy after. I don't think I want to feel like that if I can avoid it.

I was not sure about this, but Gary Sinese??? I'm there baby!!! Love him.

How do kids tend to handle this ride? I have a 12 year old who is beside himself...he can't wait. Also have a 9 year old. Both are okay with spinny rides. Is it otherwise frightening? Don't worry about spoiling it for me. I'd rather know in advance. PM if you have to.
