Mission Space Question

 If you think you might get sick I would not go. My DD(16) and I took dhramamine before going on MS. We took it at the resort before leaving to go to Epcot. Waited about one hour before going on the ride. I got quesy and asked her to get the air sickness bag for me. I didn't get sick on the ride, but outside after the ride. I had to go to the first aid station and rest. After one hour I went back to the resort. My DH and DD went back to Epcot for the rest of the day. DD felt ok just a little funny, DH felt fine. I will never go on that ride again :sad1:

I thought it was a great ride, but I did feel pretty quesy for a while afterwards. Even on the ride, I could somewhat tell we were spinning, and near the end I started to worry. The ride ended before anything happened though.

We went on Body Wars pretty soon after riding this, and I think my system hadn't fully recovered. Simulators don't normally bother me, but I thought I was going to lose it again on Body Wars.

Maybe I'm just getting old...

That pretty much sums up my experience. At first the effects are fun and the ride enjoyable. But KNOWING it is spinning, I could definitely feel it. Even though I kept focused on the video, it kept trying to "rotate" slowly - a reaction which can affect ppl while spinning. Just like Kelric, I started to get a little worried at the end, like I didn't think I could take too much more of it. It ended just in time. I didn't feel nauseous until afterwards.

Ugh Body Wars...I never liked that one.

My DW and I were not going to ride it but then decided too. There are two important rules to get through the ride and enjoy it:

1 - Do not close your eyes.
2 - Do not look to the sides; look stright ahead at all times.

We both felt a tiny bit of "weirdness" but it wan't bad at all. We got a tiny snack after and felt great the rest of the day.

I have felt worse after Great American Scream Machine at Great Adv. in NJ.

If you go on, I hope you enjoy it

:sad2: I did all the things they told us to do, didn't close eyes and looked ahead. It didn't work, not all of us are made to ride.

I'm still a little confused!! :confused3 Is it like the ride at a carnival that spins really fast and looks like a flying saucer? I think is called gravatron?!? You just lean up against the wall and the spinning keeps you against the wall. (its like your glued there) If it is i think ill be fine!! :)

That's how the spinning works yes... you face the center and are pressed back. But you can't tell that's what you're in, you can't see other people or anything that makes you think you're spinning. It's a centrifuge combined with a simulator. All you see is the screen in front of you. You don't even have peripheral vision of your crewmates until they reach out for their buttons.

I love Mission:Space (for those who don't I just wanted to say that).

A friend of mine made it as far as the entry to the actual ride before she decided she better not try it. She was directed into the post-ride area, with all the mission control simulations and such.

Try barfing on Mission:Puke and see if you can hurl your lunch strong enough to overcome the centrifugal force pushing it back towards your face.

Or you could use the air sickness bags. Or you could simply not go seeing as how you'll probably make the other people in your capsule sick.

Rule of thumb. If you can't ride tea cups or the gravitron-style fair ride, don't do Mission Space. If Body Wars & Star Wars don't work for you, Mission Space won't either. I mean, it's a fantastic ride (!!!!!!) but it's not for everyone.
