Per WDW - there is a less intense way to ride Mission Space.
Is Green really less intense?
I hate roller coasters :furious:
Please tell. I would love to try Mission Space, but I have been running away from it :tiptoe: every time we go to WDW.

Pick Your Level of Intensity
Mars-bound cadets can choose from 2 levels of training. Both offer the same training mission but differ in intensity. The Orange Team is the more intense training experience, while the Green Team is less intense.

The Orange Team experience uses a centrifuge that spins and tilts to simulate speed and G-forces during launch and re-entry. The Green Team experience is a motion simulator ride that does not spin and is less likely to cause motion sickness.

If you are prone to motion sickness or uncertain about which level to choose, you should opt for the Green Team for a less intense but still thoroughly exhilarating experience.

If you're easily susceptible to motion sickness, SKIP THE ORANGE TEAM SIDE. I hardly EVER get sick on rides, and this nearly put me down for the count. I had to sit for 10 minutes after to get my head back on straight.

The only time I went on MS was when they only had one version - the "orange" spinning version. I disliked it intensely. I think the combination of spinning; the fact that you're in such a tiny space; and the many, many warnings about motion sickness did me in. I was so worried about getting sick that I freaked myself out. I never felt nauseated, but felt very claustrophobic and shaken up when the ride was over. Took me about an hour to feel back to normal.

With the bad experience on my first and only ride, I swore I'd never go again. When they created the non-spinning "green" version of the ride, I realized that I didn't want to try it due to my claustrophobia issues. If you don't have those issues, I would recommend trying it!

Do you like Star Tours? If so you will like the Green Mission Space. If not, you probably won't like it.

I chickened out of Mission Space on several trips even though my DH begged me to ride it and told me I would like it. Then last year, DD (6) really wanted to try it- so I let her and DH talk me into going too. Can't be outdone by a 6 year old who is usually a ride chicken!!! To my surprise, I liked it! I can't ride tea cups, but I was fine on Mission Space. It has a very similar feel to Star Tours with the exception that instead of having a bunch of people in the simulator with you, it is just 4 of you. There is still absolutely no way I would try orange though!

No, never did Star Tours.
I did try on our last visit to WDW - Big Thunder Mtn and screamed the whole ride. Once I did Splash Mtn, but I also hated the down hills and the big finale down hill.

So should I even skip the Green Space Mission?

Orange is definitely intense. My wife was adamant about me not taking DS8 (He'll be turning 10 on our upcoming trip) on Orange, and I did anyway. He and I both absolutely LOVED IT! However, when we came off the ride, we decided to play a prank, and he clutched his stomach, doubled over, as we walked off the ride. My wife was on a bench waiting for us, jumped up, and was almost yelling "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" and was red faced mad at me. He continued the doubled over walk until he was right in front of her, at which time he jumped up and yelled "GOTCHA!" She was furious with us, but it remains one of our absolute best Disney Memories out of all of our trips.

Green all the way! I can't stand spinning. If I rode orange, I'd feel horrible for the person riding after me... LOL!

Hahaha! We watched an older gentleman, maybe 60's, do this same thing as he walked off the ride towards his wife who was waiting on a bench for him. It was great! He had his hand over his mouth and everything walking up to her and then "Nah, just kidding" with a big grin.

I haven't been on the green side, so I can't compare but neither Star Tours or Mission Space are roller coasters so if it's the dropping and hills you don't like, there aren't any.

We tried Mission Space: Green Team for the first time on our recent trip, and really enjoyed it. We loved how every member of the group gets tasks to perform, and thought the effects were excellent. Truthfully, we found it to be a fairly gentle ride (this is Green Team, again...not Orange)...and less jerky than Star Tours. There are some moments where the depth of space feels pretty realistic, and if you experience motion sickness easily, it might play with you a bit. The ride vehicle is a touch claustrophobic for some, but it is well ventilated with fans, so you don't feel trapped. Green team for us was really a lot of fun, and not scary at all. You won't be pulling g-forces like on Orange, and don't let the seemingly endless warnings and disclaimers throw you...Green Team is not the same experience as Orange. We thought it was definitely worth it, and would ride again.

The only difference is Green does not spin. I have found that the actual experience changes very little. You are enclosed in a capsule, so you can't tell you are spinnning, just feeling the high G forces. Green just shakes a bit, barely moves at all.

Now, if you're claustrophobic, that is something to worry about on green or orange. It is pretty tight!

Hard to say. My DD (7) is not a roller coaster fan. She hates Big Thunder Mtn, and is not a big fan of Splash either. She loves Star Tours and Mission Space. I think it because she knows she is inside a simulator that isn't really going anywhere instead of in a ride vehicle that is flying on a track. She feels safer on ST and MP. Don't know if you would react the same way.

Came here to say this. If you don't like tight spaces, this ride might not be enjoyable. My wife tolerated it but likely won't ride again for this reason.

A lot of things give me motion sickness. However, Mission Space Green was no problem. You are strapped into a seat, looking through a small window in your space capsule at some very pretty sights. The capsule shakes a bit, tips back and forth and side to side. That's it. Way less intense than Big Thunder Mtn RR or Splash Mtn, in my opinion.

Both make me feel ill. :(. I still do Green if someone with me wants to go on the ride.

I got sick with the orange--stayed that way for hours after. And I love Rockin Roller Coaster and Splash Mountain.

I felt pretty "off" after riding the Green line. Roller coasters don't make me sick but this just made me feel ...woozy for lack of a better word. I won't be attempting the Orange one!

We rode both, and the green one is definitely milder. I love roller coasters (RNR, Everest, Thunder Mountain RR, and the Hulk), but I probably won't go on Mission Space again. I didn't get sick, but the very small confined space bothered me.

I'm pretty much a thrill-ride chicken, and I found the green side to be pretty lame (not getting me on orange, though!). BUT, as others said, it is very tight, so definitely skip it if you have any issues with claustrophobia. I'm small-framed, and I remember thinking, "Hmm, it's fairly snug in here." OTOH, I love Star Tours!

I am moderately claustrophobic, and I can't do spinning. I avoid the teacups like the plague! However Mission Space did not bother me at all! I did Green first, and they have a little fan blowing on your face which really helped. Hubby and 8 yr old daughter shamed me into trying Orange, and even it didn't bother me at all. I could not tell we were spinning, not even a little bit. I was really surprised!

So this claustrophobic non-spinner enjoys and does Orange gladly :)

I have a slight motion sickness. My DD8 & I can do any coaster in the world (well, I have no desire to to the spin whirl in AK again) and we both were thrilled with green.
