The attraction looks interesting to me. I'm thinking about going but I have heard sooooo many mixed opinions. The funny thing is that people either reeeeaally dislike it or reeeaally like it. A little strange. How does the thing even work? Some kind of spinning or something?

Is that the one in the ball? It's like 1970's spaceman land. So out of date it's funny

They create the G-forces for the orange side by spinning, but you don't feel the spinning, you just feel the G-forces. As long as you look straight ahead (easy b/c you're looking at the video screen) and don't close your eyes, you won't feel a spinning sensation. If you don't have problems with motion sickness, try the orange side. We were a little worried the first time, too, and we rode the green side and were underwhelmed. We went back and tried the orange side and it's a good ride. Not the greatest ever, but definately worth doing one or two times a visit.

Mission Space - I loved it! My DH went on first with my DD (13). They called my other two DD's and me up while we were on Nemo ride and said we HAD to come and ride this ride. Youngest DD was only 2 at the time so I went on with two oldest DD's and when you go in you can chose the 'spinning' side or the 'no spinning' side. Of course we chose the spinning....This ride was awesome! Don't ask me how it works but you feel just like you are launching into space. Just when I thought I could take no more we entered 'orbit'. I was recovering from the launch only to discover that we were now preparing to rocket around the moon in order to shoot off to ours Mars destination!! The g forces were awesome. If you get motion sick DO NOT GO on the spinning side. I cannot attest to the non spinning side as we did not do it. We are going back soon and Mission Space is on my list of attractions not to miss.

PS....(shhhhhh...I take dramamine...lol)

Do the commercials and warnings make it seem more intense than it is?

I thought it was pretty intense. I suffer from motion sickness :crazy2: but I HAD to at least try it! We went with the tame side and it freaked me out. I can say I did it and that's enough for me.

It was pretty intense...I have to say that when we got into the actual 'capsul' that you experience the ride in there were (for lack of a better word), barf bags in a small pocket!! When I saw this I freaked a little as I never saw a ride so intense they supplied barf bags!! I brought one home, unused ;) , for our scrapbook.

The main thing is to do what they instruct you to do and you should be fine. Do not look away from the screen and do not close your eyes...I know if me and my dramamine can do it you can too!!

No. They are there for a reason!

My 13 y/o son and husband loved it. I, on the other hand, honestly thought I was going to DIE. This was in 2004 before there were 2 vrsions of it.

The feeling scared me to death. It was like my heart was going to explode. Whats worse was that I did not see any kind of panic button to stop the ride nor can anyone see inside so once on it you HAVE to finish the ride. I know my eyes rolled back in my head and all I wanted to do was pass out. I will NEVER ride that ride again and I won't let my 7 y/o ride it when we go in May.

I wasn't going to ride it in the first place because Im overweight and have had blood pressure problems but my DS and DH swore it wasn't that bad.

If you are an adrenaline junkie in good health, give it a try. If not, just remember that once you are on it.......you're stuck in there.

I love it...my mom hates it. To each their own but I would try it at least once. It is intense but I never feel like I am spinning. Pay attention to the directions...don't close your eyes or turn your head and you will be fine.

Never been on it. Never will go on it. Will not risk being sick the entire day!

I love it, but spinning doesn't bother me at all. If you don't take spinning well or are claustrophobic - it's not the ride for you.

My DW and I went on Mission Space last year very first thing in Epcot. I should'a known better. She was white as a sheet coming out and we had to park it for 30 minutes for recovery!

I am clausterphobic, and normally pretty scared of these type of rides. However, last year when DH and I went for our 10th anniversary, I got brave! I rode this AND tower of terror. I would ride both again.

I think it's the most intense ride at WDW, because the "intense-ness" seems to last longer than other rides (the drop at Splash Mtn, the take-off at RnRR, etc). It is very cool, however. About the time I think I can't take any more, it's over.

I hated this ride and after listening to me complain about it, DH (who loves thrill rides) refuses to step foot even on the tame side. (I rode the not-tame side, which ever color that is.)

I have asthma, but not that bad. Even with that, it made my lungs feel so heavy with pressure I wanted to scream to get out of there. HATED it. The girl sitting next to me had to use the barf bag in the slot on her seat.

I'm too scared... isnt that the ride one or 2 people died after??

Is it similar to the carnival ride Gravitron?? I always compare the two for some reason... I don't like spinning...thats the ONLY thing that gets me sick...

But...I'm afraid to try it...even though they have the weaker version now, I still wont' even allow my kids on it.... and my oldest has even bungee jumped!

That's exactly how I felt about M:S until they introduced the Green Team option. One day, I got my courage up and tried the mild, non-spinning side and now, it's one of my favorite rides!

As someone else mentioned, if you suffer from claustrophobia, be warned that you are in an enclosed capsule.

Really cool effects, lots of fun doing your "assignment" and pushing the buttons.

Normally, I get motion sickness really easy. I've never had the slightest sensation of nausea on the Green Team!

It works pretty much like the astronaut training centerfuge.

I loved the orange side. DH who is an AF Pilot was disappointed felt that it was nothing compared to the real thing like in a fighter jet. I told him us civilians can only handle so much:rotfl:

I went on it and felt a little out of whack for a bit (like 10 mins or so) after getting off of it, but it was still worth it. I will go on it again, on the orange side (green side was not open yet when I went last). The ride lasts a little over 5 minutes...so if it does get overwhelming just keep that in mind, that you will be "back on the ground" shortly. I am clausterphobic and had to focus on the ride whenever my mind started to remind me that I was in a tiny little space.
