Possible spoiler alert below, so don't read if you haven't ridden it yet and want to be surprised...

I rode Mission Space the other day. If you go into it thinking it is a high speed mega thrill ride that is going to have steep drops and sudden side to side movements and lots of close calls, you will be disappointed. However, if you approach it as a space simulator, what it likely feels like during REAL space travel, it is awesome. This ride could only be in Epcot.

I am bringing this up, because my initial feelings after exiting the ride were that of a let down because it didn't have a lot of "close calls" and steep drops, and a major fall at the ending (ala Spiderman IOA when you fall off the skyscraper). I felt the ending was a bit anti climatic. Yes there was a close call with disaster at the end, but it just didn't feel wild enough.

But after re-evaluating the ride, I really like it because it is not supposed to have the cheesy stuff. It is supposed to feel like actual space travel. It doesn't jerk around as much as Body Wars or Star Tours, and I thought it would. But that's not what it would be like during an actual space mission. Epcot obviously wanted to keep it a simulator, not an arcade game.

I still rate it slightly lower than most on the board. I give it an A-, only because after 3 years of anticipation I was expecting the greatest ride in the world. It's close, but not #1. Right now, I rate it behind Spiderman at IOA and Indiana Jones at Disneyland CA. Still a must see though.

I still think Spiderman is the best ride, but haven't been on Indiana Jones at DL. I have to say that Tower of Terror and RNR is way up there too. Would you say its better then those two?

I think Mission Space is better than both those two, but I do love RnR. Nothing better than the first 5 seconds of RnR.

I can never get tired of Spiderman. As for Indiana Jones DL, if you close your eyes the whole time you are actually riding Dinosaur at AK. But Indiana Jones gets the edge over Dinosaur because the theming is awesome.

SPACE is my favorite among those listed (I haven't been on Spiderman though), but then I've been dreaming about heading out there one day since I was about five. I never expected the attraction to be a thrill ride per se; in fact, the thrill elements (meteor shower, ice sheet collapse) are probably my least favorite parts of the ride.
This is probably the closest I'll get to the real thing for the next couple of decades, so I am happy :)

I have not been on spidy but would like to. I saw the making of the ride which seemed really cool. Indy is great the theming is fantastic. When you go over the cavern on the bridge you are really high in the air. I also like the different temples that you can go into on a random basis. Is the space ride open full or are they just doing soft intros? I expected them to open it on 4th of july weekend so they can get alot of people into the parks.

Since I've ridden spiderman a couple of times without feeling too bad (re: motion sickness), how does this compare to the new ride. I do avoid Star Tours and Body Wars because of the queasyness afterwards and sometimes headache. I can get through the rides, but they are not high on my list. I would like to do mission at least once, but don't want to be embarrassed by losing my lunch. Any help would be appreciated. We will be there July 23-Aug. 2, so will be able to do the AP holder preview on Aug. 1 and 2.

I've ridden Spiderman several times and while I like it a lot I didn't like it any better than Splash Mt.,RNRC, or even T2 at US.

Spiderman is definitely not a thrill ride, even my wife rode it several times and she won't even ride Test Track again. I'd call it Dinosaur with It's Tough To Be A Bug video effects.

Just like some people love Broccoli and some don't, rating rides is an individual preference of one type over another and truly is Apples and Oranges. I love hearing other oppinions though as it's interesting to see how others feel about rides.

I am looking forward to MS because I've always dreamed of Space Travel. September hurry up!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I was a little disappointed in the "cartoonish" picture on the simulator screen, but I liked the motion of the ride.

I only noticed the weightlessness part of the ride because the simulator makes the announcement. Its not so easy to notice because the rider is sitting down and held by the restraint bar. So, any new riders, listen for this announcement (I think it happens after being sling shot around the moon) and then lift your arms and legs and notice the weightlessness.

I'll be honest with you, this thing DOES spin. And if you get dizzy from spinning, it may affect you. The weird thing is that you forget you are spinning during the ride, because everything in the ride capsule and the "movie" screen spin with you so you can't really tell you are spinning. But you will notice some (minor) dizziness about 10 minutes after you exit the ride.

I think the reason I love Spiderman is it combines both elements of a simulator AND a dark ride. I love the feeling of actually moving forward and going into different rooms.
