Mission Space is simply awesome, we we lucky enough to ride Mission Space during the soft opening on 7/25/2003 @ 1:00PM. We just happened to stroll on buy the attraction as a line started to form. We only waited about 15 minutes to get on the ride. This ride is a simulator no matter what anyone says however it is not an ordinary simulator. This similator makes everything seem real. The actual ride cab uses plasma screen tv's for a CRISP picture, the G forces are strong, you do not get motion sickness since you constantly feel like your moving forward versus a circle. It is hard to explain the ride - simply wicked!

Now I wished I would have rode it. My DH and I watched the movie in line that tells you about the ride but decided we might get motion sick on it. It was July 17 and there was no lines!!! Oh well I'll just have to wait until the next trip.

yeah they constantly warned of motion sickness however you could not tell you were moving in a circle, the motion felt straight the entire ride.

Is there a age or height requirement? Did you see any 4, 5, or 6 year olds riding this one. Is it a kind of scary ride?

Don't be too quick to say motion sickness is not a problem.

I do not have a problem with motion sickness on most rides but this was absolutely the worst experience I ever had with motion sickness --- and I even took 2 drammamine before riding because of all of the warnings.

I think that people handle different types of motion differently. This ride spins (and yes, I could feel it) and if you have a problem with spinning motion, watch out.

I can ride Star Tours, Body Wars and Back to the Future as well as any rollercoaster around -- but keep me away from the tea cups (and now Mission Space).

tbickford- I believe I read the heigh requirement was 44"

44 inches sounds right. My 6 year old daughter went on the ride. She is afraid of everything, however she was not afraid of mission space, she said she liked it but said it made her chest hurt.

some of you have obvioly ridden Misssion Space, BUt according to the Diensy website it doesnt open until the 15 i will be down in orlando and leaving the 15 have plans to be in Epcot on the 14.

Are they running it some times or will i miss out this trip? This happend to me with test track it opened two weeks after i left....

When I was down on the WDWCP I saw signs for MIssion space and was upset that i wouldnt get to ride..

Mission Space is not official openned until 8/15. You have to be in the right place at the right time to ride it now. They did run it everyday last week at 1:00PM

I can not wait to ride Mission Space. Only 6 days to go until I am in sunny, warm Florida.

Primax,
How did you know it was opening? Were cast members gathered outside, did you just notice a line forming (and how did these people know to form a line?)? Did the planets on the outside start moving? We will be in the parks on Friday, Aug. 8 and don't want to miss it. Did they do fast pass for MS?

Thanks for the information. I posed a thread earlier and had some looks, but no responses.

Our neighbors son is a big pin collector so we went inside the mission space store which is always open and bought a pin for him. The CM told us to come back at 1:00PM so we did and there were about 20 other people waiting. We waited 5 minutes and were on. After we got in line people began getting in line and had no idea why we were in line. yes, you will see a line and it gets big real fast!

We rode it last Sunday and they did start it up at 1:00 PM. I have to disagree with the comment about not getting motion sickness. We were ready to get into our capsule and the last party in there had gotten sick. We told the ride attendant and they ended up closing our side down and moving everyone to another side. They said this happens pretty frequently. I was a little leary then about riding it so I kept my eyes closed through most of it. :)

AP holders got to ride it this last weekend. My dh and I are in our late 40s... I can do star tours, and tea cups etc.. just close my eyes... it takes some time to calm myself down after the tea cups, though.

In any case - this ride is truly something. I will never go on it again, at least I don't think so! The pressure on my chest alone scared the heck out of me! The plasma screens are truly realistic. I'm glad it was short, I think I am too old for something like this.
It is a well done ride, I must say! My kids will LOVE IT!

I enjoyed the post ride things - the emails, the video games.

So - on the whole a big success - but way too freaky for me to ride again!

Just got back and rode MS twice in a row within 20 minutes. It is by far my favorite ride at EPCOT now. The only flaw is that it is too short. And from what I understand, it is open everyday now after 4pm. Some days it may open earlier.

Actually, although still supposedly in "test mode" the attraction is probably going to be open from 9-9 most days from now on. However as it is still in a "guest test" phase, they may open and close it randomly. They have 3 of the 4 chambers up and running at present and the FastPass and Single Rider queues are also available.

Actually, I think the August 15th date is still considered a soft opening, with the official opening during the press event in October. I might be wrong on that, but that's what I've been hearing. We are also hearing from many people (including CM's) that MANY people are getting sick on this ride. I would suggest that those prone to motion sickness keep this in mind before riding.

FYI....I just confirmed with Disney that August 15th is considered a Soft Opening for the attraction. That just gives them the leeway to close it down for tweaks and adjustments. Please keep this in mind when planning your Epcot days.

We rode MS this week - there was a sandwich board outside Innoventions pointing the way towards it. No other announcement.

I think WDW coasters are tame. I love TOT. But this was THE most intense ride experience! If you like that, and are fearless -- you'll love it! I hated it - my 14yr old daughter loved it! The 4 minute ride seemed like it would never end to me - she wanted to go on it again right away!

I kept my head in the headrest and didn't dare look to either side, as numerous warnings instructed. I felt tremendous pressure on my chest and a little sick to my stomach. I felt a little dizzy and disoriented for about 1 hr afterwards.

We talked to some others on the ride and it was about split down the middle between loving it and feeling a little sick like me(or worse).

ANd he was told the only people who can ride right now are Ap holders. ARe all of you Ap holders or are just catching it at test intervals?
