I know some posters said the gentle ride isn't too bad, but does it still spin? Do they alternate the gentle ride with the full out spin? How do you get yourself on the gentle ride?

I will NOT be going on the full out spin, but would love to try the gentle ride. any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about Mission: Space??

Spaceship earth is "the big ball" that has the word EPCOT on top.

I haven't been on the new toned down version of Mission: Space but the regular one. Never again.

I'm guessing you mean Mission: Space, not Spaceship Earth. :sunny: Spaceship Earth is a slow ride through the ages with a communication theme. Mission: Space is the ride that they now offer 2 versions of: 1) non-spinning, which I guess you mean the gentle version, it doesn't spin at all as far as I understand and 2) the normal spinning version, which BTW made me sick for about 30 mins after  and I don't get motion sick! I was suprised by that. I believe they are 2 completely separate lines and you choose the one you want to be in.

Yes... I did mean Mission Space! I feel like a space cadet for just writing the wrong name! We haven't been to WDW since 2003 and we just decided to add on 1/2 a day at Epcot and I feel like a chicken with my head cut off running around trying to plan, organize and get up to speed on making the most of our Epcot visit! Thanks guys....

another question... how size friendly is Mission space? a pooh sized girl wondering if I will fit, or if I should just skip Missiom space?

No problem at all.

The seats are fine.

When the panel closes so you can operate the controls and view the screen, it is narrower at your head, but very roomy for your body.

BTW, PRINCESS VIJA, you can go back a EDIT your first post (even the Subject Line/Title) to say, "Mission: Space" instead of "Space Ship Earth".

(Just open your first post and hit the "EDIT" button near the bottom.
and make your changes.)

It will make more sense for others reading it.
:thumbsup2

thanks, I did go edit it! I bet some of the very seasoned experts are wondering what moron can't handle Spaceship Earth! :lmao:

That HAD crossed my mind.
Then I remembered all those (VERY ODD) "Warnings" about how your car will "slowly turn around for your return voyage" (or some such), and I thought you might have meant THAT. :goodvibes

What GIVES with all those warning lenticular signs in the outdoor queue, and then AGAIN, added video animation and voice-over telling (and RE-telling) you about that "SLOW spin around" at the top.

Then (AT the top) we get, "Attention Space Ship Earth voyagers... your vehicle in now "spinning" for your return..."

ENOUGH already!

Did hordes of guests "JUMP OUT" before those warnings?? :confused3

What's next?

"Attention Splash Mountain voyagers. Your log is going up the hill, then, DOWN the mountain and you WILL get splashed."

"Attention Small Wolrd voyagers. Your boat is now stuck behind 276 other boats at the exit of the ride. You WILL get bumped by the next 62 boats behind you."

I did the regular mission space and was also nearly sick and I have never been motion sick on a ride before. I didn't try it again in October but I don't remember any signage saying there was an option for a non moving or gentle moving version. How do you get to experience it this way? I loved the ride, unfortunatly my lunch didn't share that sentiment.

I was reading through all the post and kept going back to yours and could not figure out what eveyone was talking about, the thread says Mission Space, why is everyone asking about Spaceship Earth, I'm loosing it, whats going on. Then I finally got to Robo's post explaining about editing your thread, then realized what was going on. Anyway, I've been on the original ride never had a problem with the spinning. I'm curious about the modified version, without spinning, to see how much of a difference this will make in the ride.

We just returned from WDW and gave Mission Space another chance because of the new format. It was a great idea and will probably save this ride.

Well now they have 2 que's. The Orange Team without spinning and the Green Team with Spinning.

Dh and my Best Friend and her 9 year old chose the Green Team with spinning. We all had fastpasses and they gave us a corresponding colored card with the line we were to enter. They enjoyed their ride and no one felt sick or anything.

Myself and my 2 Ds's went on the Orange team. It was cool! I rode the regular version before and just felt out of sorts for a while and didnt want to spend my day feeling like that. We still got to push all the buttons and my Ds's really enjoyed it.
Same ride, but without the G's.

Be sure to stick around for the Space Race games! Once you get the hang of it, it is a blast!

woohoo!!!! I am so glad to have the toned down option. DD and I chickened out during our 2-05 visit. DH was mad that we used the chicken out line, but after the ride, he told me that we wouldn't have done well on this one and understood why we chickened out.

I can't wait until our Christmas trip to try the tamed down version!!!!! :thumbsup2

Has anyone that suffers from motion sickness done the new version? I'm still chicken to try it. I can do rollercoasters but not simulators. I was very ill after I tried Body Wars years ago. Anybody???
