Morning,
Can anyone who has been on both versions explain the difference between them. I would love to try the green edition as i suffer from chronic motion sickness, 5 years in the Navy travelling by rail. What type of motion/movement sensations do you feel in the green version

Haven't been on it but, you should feel all of the same motions except the being pushed back hard in your seat as if to accelerate forward.

There is some forward and backward tilt that may give a little sensation of being pushed back.

I was on it 2 years ago (when they had only one, the orange, version) and I don't recall whether there was also some up and down bouncing which if so would still be there.

I don't generally suffer from any kind of motion sickness, but the original version is one of the few rides that really makes me feel sick. The green is still fun, but not nearly as intense. You feel yourself leaning back and stuff, but not that pushed back in the seat-stomach in your throat feeling! I'd say go for it!

On the Green version, there is no spinning. So, you won't feel quite the same sensation as on Orange. Personally, I like Green better -- I hate spinning rides (think Teacups) and the lines are much shorter. One time on Orange and I'd be done with rides for a couple of hours -- until my body got back to normal. I could ride Green over and over. DD11 prefers Orange, but what do kids know!

Add on to this question... just how claustaphobic is the ride vehicle? I know I could handle the green version of movemet, but mostly worried if I should skip it still depending on how bad the vehicle is.

The ride space is pretty tight but you have 3 other people in the capsule with you, which helped me out a lot. Also there are a lot of bells and buttons to push and that light up which kept me entertained so that I did not notice the tight space.

My husband gets motion sickness on Star Tours. My DS11 and I love the MS Orange but I would love for my DH and DD5 to experience MS green while DS and I go on the orange version. Can anyone compare Start Tours to MS green for me? Thanks so much!

Yes, it is close but there is a screen right in front of your face of the sky so you can "see" where you are going...if you are unconfortable in small spaces as I am (not really claustrophobic, so don't know about that!) I found looking at the screen kept me from even feeling like I was in a small space. I was not sick in the least and loved the ride.

Edited to add this was the original ride, not the new mild version...they didn't have that one yet when we were there in October.

On Star Tours the ride is very rough, but on Mission Space there is no jerking around so he might be OK! I don't even remember it being rough during the landing (but someone who has ridden it more recently may remember that differently!)

My daughter, who gets very carsick, rode it twice (the original version), and the first time she was fine, the second time she tossed her cookies about half an hour later...but she said the first time she kept her eyes on the screen and the second time she looked around the cabin.

On a light note, her 9 year old son was absolutely convinced his 7 year old cousin made them crash the first time because he didn't push the button, so he made sure he was Captain the second ride---and was he ever bummed out when they crashed even though he performed his Captain's duties flawlessly! :)

I did the orange version last year, orange made me sick for the rest of the day.

This year I tried green. I was actually surprised at how much movement it had. Takeoff tips you back pretty far, so you still feel some pressure. More then I expected. I thought they had done it very well.

If you are claustrophobic, I would skip it though. It is a VERY tight area. If you are prone to motion sickness, this ride could trigger it. I would compare it to a smoother Star Tours.

Just a note, if you get motion sickness, the green will still "get ya". The only difference is the lack of G-force. In the spinning version, your body doens't know you are spinning. It just feels the g-force. I think the Motion sickness comes from the actual movment that is obvious, along with the screen. I think the screen is enough to make you sick. It's just "different" than looking at a standard screen.

One thing I noticed on the non spinning version that you may like (if you are claustrophobic) is that the doors on the ends of the capsules are able to be opened. I dont know if this was a mistake when I was there but, I sat on the end, and noticed after the door shut that it was not "locked". I lightly pushed with my hand the and door started to come open. It seemed to be spring locked, or tight, so like a rubber band, if you pushed it would move but then close back when released.

Well, just like you, my brother in law rode the spinning version in December (before there was a non spinning version) and he was sick the entire day. he threw up in the grass outside of the ride and again, on a crowded bus from EPCOT to MGM.

Also, like you, I found the green version to be nice but I was a bit surprised at how much it still moves and can make you sick.

Dang it... I had really wanted to experience the Green version, but I do have panic attacks due to really tight spaces. I mean, crying, screaming total panic attacks. However, by having a fake "window"/screen I do think I will be alright. Just don't want to ruin the vacation because I went on it and had an attack.

Having people around also helps me... like I can not take an elevator by myself, but if someone is in it with me, I don't have much of an issue.

Lily, you can give it a try, let the CM know you might want to 'bail out' though before the start of the ride. You could sit in it and if uncomfortable, ask to be taken off before the ride starts. it is a snug fit, when the ybring the screen in close, but is does serve as a 'window', and others are in there with you. I am 6'6" and do okay.

I sort of enjoyed the original, though did feel 'weird' for a bit afterward. I do think Disney has a home run though with the green, I enjoyed it a lot.
