Can someone please tell me about this? I am definately not the person who could ever do the regular mission space. How tame is the green team?

It was great. We rode M:S back in 2003 on the regular version. I was dizzy afterwards & it gave me a huge headache that was tough to get rid of. I swore I would never ride it again..Once was enough!

In August we received a bonus M:S FP while getting a FP for Test Track so we decided to go on the green version. It was great, the ride was still fun but you don't feel like throwing up afterwards. My kids loved it too!

I did the "full fledged" MS right after it opened in 2003. I didn't feel nauseuos, just kinda "fuzzy" for a few hours. I did the tamed down version last week and felt no lingering effects. It reminded me of a level 2 ride on Cyber Space Mountain at Disney Quest.

Just got back a few weeks ago and I'm also one that would NEVER EVER do the regular version but DH talked me into trying the Green. I was scared to death standing in that line!!!!

It was great!!!!! Much milder than Star Tours at MGM. What makes it great is that you can close your eyes if you want. You can sit up in the seat and talk to the person next to you. It's really great and really no big deal at all. I love it now!!!!!!

The green version of Mission Space was the only ride at WDW that REALLY bothered me. I wouldn't ride the orange version so I can't compare them. For some reason, when they shut the door I got very claustrophobic. I actually considered yelling for someone to get me out and started to panic (which is unusual for me). I didn't want to upset the rest of my family because I didn't think there was anything I could do to stop the ride at this point. I closed my eyes during the entire thing, thought about happy things, and made it. ;) The funny thing is, I was worried about my "job" to press the buttons. So even in my nervous state, I did open up my eyes twice to press the buttons when mission control told me too! I don't know what I thought would happen if I didn't. :rotfl2: I felt fine right after the ride, especially when the doors opened and I ran out! :rotfl: I think the problem was that my little brain was giving the whole thing too much thought. Before I got on the ride I was reading the signs about small spaces. After I pulled the harness down, I looked around fast and saw just how small of an area I was in. I don't think it was the motion or the video because I was anxious before that started. The strange thing is that we had riden it before a few days earlier without any problems. :confused3 Everyone getting off the ride looked relaxed and happy so I don't think it is a problem for too many people.

I had the exact same reaction to the very small space inside the ride. I started to panic once they shut the door and there was no way out. I have never been claustrophobic in my life, but I was pressing buttons, trying to find an escape hatch, I guess. My poor family didn't know what to do. The ride itself wasn't too bad, only the Mars landing made me a little queasy. If I ever rode it again (which I am not planning on), it would probably be better. I would already know how incredibly small your little capsule is, and be ready to deal with it.

I found the effects better than expected. The orange side was a bit too real for me, but I figured the green side would be pretty much just like watching a video. My son wanted to go on it, so we tried it out, and I was impressed. I didn't have to worry about keeping my eyes straight ahead, instead I could enjoy watching him doing his "job", as well as try to steer us around the surface of mars- and you still get the effect that your moving.

Aside from the claustrophobia, RIDE IT!
It's not bad at all and lots of fun,
we rode it twice!

We just did this one. It was SOooo much better than the original version, but it depends on how easily you get sick on motion simulators. If things like Star Tours bother you, this may still be too much. Otherwise, it would be fine. It's still not my favorite thing to ride, but man was it better than the orange!!!

I did it today without any problems. They have a puke bag in there for you just in case you need it.

All of us did it this year. Lots of fun! It's much smoother than Star Tours, and neither Dh nor Dd got motion sick. We went on three times. :thumbsup2

Orange version is a centrafuge (did I spell that right)......it spins! Compare it to the Gravatron or Spaceship at carnavals where you go round and round very fast. You can't close your eyes and the pressure on you is pretty hard, like if you wanted to life your hand it would be harder. It's made a lot of people sick, but a lot of people love it too.

The green version is the same exact ride with the same simulator type movements but no spinning!!!! You are still in a small space so if you get claustrophobic easily you won't like it. However I was right next to the door and kind of hit on it a bit and it would have opened right up so you aren't locked in or anything except for the harness. You still move some and see the video but you can close your eyes, look around whatever.

I could not have ridden the original either, but I went on the green mission and boy, I almost fell asleep. It was so boring, just like watching tv, the only thing that bothered me was the small space that we were enclosed in.

We have done both sides of Mission Space and I can honestly say we didn't feel cheated one bit by the green side. My 19 year old DS even said he thought he liked the green side better! When you get off the green side you shouldn't have any side-effects of feeling sick at all. It's more like getting off from Star Tours. We still felt like we were being pushed back in our seat during lift-off and other special effects but I didn't feel "weird" afterwards like I did from the original ride. The wait in line was shorter for the green side which was also kind of nice!

I easily get sick on rides so would never do the regular version of the ride. I went on the green team in Aug & really enjoyed it. It's exciting yet pretty tame, if that makes sense! It's a ride you shouldn't miss ... & if you do start to get bothered by it you can always close your eyes & rest for a few minutes!!

I just rode the Green side last week.

I'm a big Orange-side fan, but my daughter would never ride it with us. I had to convince her to try the Green side -- which does, in fact, spin. It just doesn't spin nearly as much as the Orange side. While we were in line, another mother and her teenaged daughter asked about the ride. I told them that I had not ridden the Green side yet, but I have friends who find it much more palatable than the Orange side. They asked a ton of questions and I tried to prepare them and answer all their questions, reassuring them that they could get in the capsule and see how tight it was, and still opt out if they wanted. They were most apprehensive despite the fact that practically everyone in the briefing room was desperately trying to reassure them.

The mom was most worried about the claustrophobia thing. When we got in the capsule, the CM offered to close the door and tilt the control panel toward us so the mom could ascertain whether or not she could handle it. The moment the door closed, she said loudly, "NO." Her daughter tapped on the door, and they exited the capsule. My daughter and I moved over into the center seats. The CM talked the other mom and her daughter into trying the ride, we moved back to our original spots, and at this point, the ride finally went into pause mode, which I've never experienced. I mean -- honestly -- the CM's give you every chance to decide whether or not to do the ride. You have lots of time. You can change your mind. Repeatedly. Nobody will hold it against you. We all want you to have a good time. This is Disney! Y'know?

So finally everyone climbed into the capsule for real, and the ride started. As a die-hard, Orange-side, gimme-all-the-G's-you-can thrillseeker, I found the Green side completely tame. The only point at which I felt anything that approached the coolness and intensity of the Orange side was when the wings were deployed for the descent onto Mars. And even that was quite tame.

The apprehensive mom and daughter totally enjoyed the ride, and as we exited, they and my daughter all agreed emphatically that they were glad they tried it. They also agreed that they were silly to have worried about it so much, and they would ride it again any time.

My conclusion? Mission:Space rocks. Seriously. I may prefer the Orange side, but I'm glad Disney created the Green side for the people who couldn't handle the the more intense version.

Now if only Disney would create a Buzz-Lightyear-type shooting gallery side of IASW for those of us who aren't thrilled with singing dolls.... ;)
