OK, here's the latest silliness from this new ride. My wife's friend from work, a huge WDW fan but not usually a rider of thrill rides, claims that her, her husband and friends all got a case of the burps right after riding MS. I'd be more inclined to think that they all ate at Cantina San Angel just before boarding, but I promised to post here to see if anyone else experienced this. Anyone??

didn't notice any *extra* burping but hubby was really sick after riding it even doing all the things you should so I don't think that would be impossible...especially if they made the mistake we did and rode the next few things with the movie type things that make you feel like you are there ( not a good idea for him after that ride) and test track and those dream things. he felt sick enough not to want to ever go on again even though he liked the idea and I loved it.

We were all fine....except for my 10 year old who felt sick afterwards. I think it was just nerves though. She really didn't want to try the ride and we insisted that she try it just once.

No burps here either!

I'm a (mild) claustrophobe and get motion sickness moderatly easy (can't do a small boat on even slighly rough water - but big cruise ships are fine even in large storms) and I had no problems with the ride. I've been on it 4 times - all different days - on 2 seperate trips.

This past trip last week I started getting the starting stages of morning sickness as well, but still did fine on M:S. (chowed on some peppermints to keep my tummy calm)
(at least I think it might be morning sickness - haven't had a positive pregnancy test yet...;) )

The ride made me a bit queazy, which gives me the sweats immediately. The first thing I did was head for a Coca Cola to help with the heat and queazy feelings. Coca Cola makes me burp big time! Maybe the same type of things happened to them and they all ran for the coke too..... Carbonation- big burping machine:)

Well that's a new one! The only reaction I had from it was severe eye-watering after my first ride. I think it was just from the air blowing in my face and I was trying to keep my eyes open and focused on the screen!
I rode it several more times though during our trip and just remembered to keep blinking and I was fine. I loved that ride!!
::yes::

I read what was happening to everyone before I went. I figured if I was to ride it I would forgo breakfast and ride the ride with an empty stomach. I went into the ride and had no problem getting in and sitting down. All was ok until the ride started. I felt the chamber spin and was sick from the time of start to the end. I got a break when we became weightless but that was short lived when we shot passed the moon to mars. I did my mission but I really couldn't enjoy it being sick. I love space but this ride did me in. After getting off the ride I was a bit wooshy so I sat down on a bench just outside the cubicles. So I don't know what happend but I did not go on the ride again. I might go on it again but I don't know if I want to subject myself to the ride again.

Thanks, all. My wife is very suggestable and gullible so I needed to lay this one to rest. I'm looking forward to getting our whole crew on this ride in just a few weeks.

We rode Mission: Space. I felt fine afterwards. My DH did feel odd afterward, not really ill...but this is our he explained it...He felt like he had a big burp stuck in his chest.

We walked around for about 20 minutes, with him rubbing his chest and waiting to burp. Then he did! And he felt much better.

It was his version of motion sickness - all that motion created gas!

imho getting sick on it has nothing to do with either trait listed above because, at least in my husband's case, he is neither nor had he read any of the info about the ride. in fact he was positive he would NOT have a problem with it when I told him maybe he should take something knowing his history with motion sickness.

back to back and did feel a little lightheaded and a very bit queasy for a little while after. I also had the dry eyes from staring at the screen so hard and from the air blowing in your face. Still, it was well worth the experience!! Great ride and very different from anything else.

Sounds like you could tell your wife that the ride was like a bottle of soda getting shook. You open the cap, and the bubbles/burps erupt.

That's a really cute joke.
