Mission Space - can you abort the mission?

Maybe a "CM Alert" button that wouldn't actually stop the ride, but would allow for communication with a CM, so they could determine if the ride required an emergency stop...

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

That would probably be better than the "abort button" idea. I've never been on M:S, so I'm not aware of how it operates exactly. Personally, I'd probably be tossing my Mickey waffles all over the place, so I don't think I'll be riding it.

I LOVED MS. It was a really cool ride even though I did get slightly quesy and needed to sit down with a drink of water after exiting. My DH, who normally gets extremely sick in rides that spin in a circle also loved the ride and did better than me. Now if I could just get him on the teacups with me pirate:

When you are standing in line for the ride, isn't there a monitor that shows the inside of the capsule and the person riding it. I don't know if they have one on every person. Disney gives a lot of warnings before you get on this ride and even give you barf bags so if someone looks like they are getting sick, I don't think disney would stop the ride, especially when it is over in a few minutes. It is unfortunate that the boy died but I truly believe there were underlying circumstances that caused his death. He just happened to be on the ride at the time of his death. Think of how many people have rode this ride since opening. I would think that if this ride can cause deaths, the death rate would be much higher and sooner than now since I believe it has been opened about a year now.

I think that the video is old and on some sort of loop. If it was the real live feed, what would happen if someone got sick? Everyone in line could see it. Not really a good idea to let people see someone being motion sick when they are getting tons of warnings about it already. I think there may be video monitoring of guests in the ride, and that what is shown in the line is video of people riding, but I don't think it's live. An abort button doesn't sound good to let 1 person stop the ride for everyone, but a CM alert button that could call the attention of the person monitoring the ride to that simulator, maybe turn on a microphine so the CM could be told about a problem DOES make sense. If there is an emergency and the ride does need to be stopped, go ahead and start it and let everyone else ride again all the way through with little or no wait. If it's just someone playing with the button, note who it is and talk to them after the ride. An alert button could also help in alerting a CM to the need for cleanup of a protein spill.

The only problem might be explaining that that is the ONLY button that shouldn't be played with. A lot of people would probably push the button to see what happened.
