My hubby gets motion sick on Star Tours, is mission space going to put him over the edge. And what about those of us who get the Motion bug once in awhile....how bad is it really

Personally, I thought it was about as exciting as a Ferris Wheel. But others have posted way different views.

It ruined my whole day at Epcot. I just couldn't get right after. UGH! and I own an amusment ride that goes round and round(himalaya).
Littlest doubt, skip it, it is not worth the torture.

Before the ride, they keep telling you to stare straight ahead at your screen and not to look to the side. If you do that and really concentrate on looking at your screen, you might do okay. I cannot handle Star Tours, it always makes me sick. If you are claustrophobic, I would not do mission space. It is a pretty tight fit in there. I really thought it was cool and the closest I was going to get to riding on the space shuttle, so I reccomend doing it if you think you can handle it.

I cannot do teacups, am usually OK on Star Tours. I took their advice, kept looking at the screen and was OK. I'm Definately going again, I loved it. I usually do a generic dramamine - better safe than sick.

I am prone to motion sickness. I am ok on Star Tours but have a problem with tea cups as well, which is probably more similar to Mission Space in terms of how it moves. Two suggestions--take some dramamine 1 hour before you go on it, and keep your head back against the headrest and look straight ahead. Do not move your head or your eyes to the side. I did this and didn't have any problems. There was like half a second where I ventured into the "uh oh" territory, but I snapped out of it quickly and was fine.

I also am prone to motion sickness, did fine on StarTours but Mission Space did me in. As someone else noted, It trashed the rest of my day. I even made sure to keep my head back and eyes straight.
My DS did fine ON the ride but had a dream about it at night and got sick...go figure.
My advice ..skip it, if you are ot sure.

Hubby will definately skip it, I will judge how I feel about it when we get there. I was wanting to do it til I found out about the circle thing. I have had motion sickness before and it ruined my entire day.....definately not worth it, especially on a four day stay.

:bounce:

I have seen footage on the travel channel (a few shows, plus many many books on disney rides in my planning)

and here's the lowdown on mission space:

1. It is a centrifuge that spins over 35 mph, but not above 40mph. It goes super fast and is not a good idea for motion sick. ppl or vertigo

2. I have heard that 1 out of 4 ppl get sick inside the ride.

I was siked to do it, but after finding out about the 35mph centr. i said Forghet about it!

3. It also was reported to : "feel like my organs were being pushed in"
"feel like my face was being stretched back" "i can't lift my hand!"

hope this helps!
