Mission Space and motion sickness? Yes or No

I get motion sick on things like the Tea Cups, RnRC and Star Tours. I tried the less intense version of Mission: Space and didn't get motion sick, but it is a bit claustrophobic because the ride vehicles are very narrow. That being said, the less intense version was also kind of boring. You basically watch a screen with some shaking of the ride vehicle. I haven't ridden it since because the less intense version really didn't seem worth the wait time. I haven't tried the regular version because I don't want to miss a day in the parks for it, but if I was going to ride it, I would probably save it for the last thing I was going to do that day so that if I did get motion sick, I could go back to the hotel and go to bed.

This almost exactly. I only rode the green side and honestly it is so extremely tight. The claustrophobia was what I wasn't expecting. I did enjoy it thematically but it's not going to be a must do for me. Last ride of the day is a great idea.

I have enjoyed almost every ride at Disney, but I will not ride this ride again. I was sitting in the middle of that sardine can on the intense version and I almost passed out from claustrophobia, it felt like an eternity. That being said it did not make me motion sick.

I have ridden both sides of MS. I am a little claustrophobic but I was OK on this. My sister was having a bit of an anxiety attack and she was clutching the barf bag (on the orange side). OP, why take a chance? You don't want one ride to possibly ruin your whole day. Definitely give it a pass.

I get garden-variety motion sickness in the backseat of cars, some rides (teacups, etc.) and sort of have a been there, done that attitude about motion sickness....and Mission Space (the intense version, I rode it before the changes) quite literally knocked me off my feet. I felt sick all day. Let me put it this way - during the ride I was just this side of freaking out. After the ride was over, we went down this very long, very clean hallway with nothing but linoleum and metal benches. As I was desperately trying not to puke, my husband kindly pointed out that they must be used to it because the entire hallway looked very easy to clean...and very clean.

Now, I will say this - anyone I know who is a space enthusiast - I always say in their life they should ride this at least once because its probably the closest any of us will ever get to actually feeling like an astronaut. So - there is that.

I just wouldn't do it first thing in the morning! Save it for leaving the park just in case.

Put me on the Teacups and I'll be sicker than a dog for the rest of the day, but I'm fine with M:S. The only time I've even been remotely effected is when I rode it twice it twice in a row. I've never done the Green site.

I get motion sick but am usually ok if I take Dramamine. Rode the Orange side and as soon as we "blasted off" I was in trouble! I was lucky enough to keep my food down but my body was a mess for about 2 hours after.

Tried the green side and didn't get sick but had an instant panic attack due to how claustrophobic it was. I think I was too sick on orange to even notice the tight space. Mission Space any color is now a "must never do it again" for me.

My wife and daughter both get motion sickness. They both ride, and enjoy, the orange\more intense side of Mission space. If you follow the instructions, and look FORWARD ONLY, you are probably going to be fine. Looking up, down, left or right is going to cause issues most likely.

With that said, IMO at least, don't even waste time on the green side. I hate the fact that Disney even implemented this years ago. (both sides used to be the same\intense etc.). The green side is kind of like sitting inside a large video game unit and watching a movie. Not really much of a ride.

Simulators like Star Tours make me queasy, but I do OK on M:S for some reason. It's one of my favorites.

DW refuses to do it again. She does fine on all attractions, but she almost hurled the last time she did M:S. She says it's not worth ruining her day over 1 attraction, and I agree. Now she'll go in Mouse Gear and shop while I do M:S.

The motion sickness issue notwithstanding, it just isn't a great attraction. It's a pity, because a lot of time and effort went into getting it to Future World. The "look" of the thing is fantastic, but the actual experience is just meh. Factor-in the possibility of motion sickness, you'd do better spending your time elsewhere.

I love this ride. Doesn't make me motion sick and I ride the Orange. Yet Star Tours if I ride it multiple times can get me a little queasy. Go figure.

The Fiancé on the other hand is always out for the count for at least 30 minutes after we ride MS orange. He vowed after the second trip he isn't riding it again.

I guess I'll be suiting up alone nex time!

It bothers my husband and it made a friend of mine very sick this summer. It ruined his day! My husband can't do Space Mountain or spinny rides. HTH!

I never get motion sickness, but this is a big NO for me. I'm glad that I tried it when it opened, it was a neat experience and I did follow the instructions and just look at the screen. It wasn't until I was out of the ride that I felt weird. For several hours after I was just "off" and didn't feel right.

I would ride RnR all day before I'd go on this again. Ugh! Like many others said, I was done for the day after this. The only two rides in Disney that ever got me sick were this and Body Wars. For some reason, I'm fine with Star Tours. My sixteen year old and I are going next month. He really wants to ride this now that he has fear of nothing. I said to him, "Have fun! Meet you at the gift shop!"

I agree that the tame version didn't even come close to making me sick but it wasn't very impressive as a ride. I never throw up but get very nauseous from motion sickness, FYI

There is a lot of good science and good experiences shared in here so far for you to make a decision I believe. IMO, I would try the less intense first and see how things go. In the more intense experience, keep in mind the reminders are always to keep your eyes open and look forward at all times. That being said... I am quite the adrenaline junkie to test the limits. I can handle the most extreme things without pain or sickness. I rode this ride once and purposely attempted to close my eyes and look around while experiencing it to see how it might change my reaction to the attraction. NEVER. AGAIN. It will make you very ill. Just my 2pennies :) Good luck.

I have done Orange twice. Once because I like to try everything at WDW at least once. Second time after they made it slightly less intense, in case I could handle it. Stupid to do second time. Very sick after both times. Never again.

But I often go on, and completely enjoy, the Green "...less intense training mission" with no illness. I agree with all the PPs who note the claustrophobia potential. We've had others in the ride with us who freaked out. Clearly from the anxiety of the closed in space.

I suffer from simulation sickness only, so things like car rides dont bother me. For Mission Space the GREEN makes me quite nauseous.

If you consider riding it at all, do the GREEN version. if you get motion sick you shouldn't consider the ORANGE.

I was a CP when Mission Space first opened, so my experience is intense side only. My dreams of space travel were promptly crushed. I was sick for about an hour each time I rode.
