"Mission Impossible" let the torture begin

DS is 15 and he said he will wait till it comes on cable, how bad is that??

I have never seen any of the MI movies because I never liked the TV show well enough to see any of the movies!

Bella the Ball 360, I feel your pain. I would not want to have to sit through MI3 either.

However, your description of the theater and its local resident that ran through your legs reminded me of the WDW attraction, Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. Somehow, though, I get the feeling that this attraction didn't come to mind for you. :p

I prayed for sleep. The noise was so loud and I mean loud that there was no way to sleep.

As to the poster who defended LOTR I know there is a cult out there loyal to this series as there is a cult for Star Wars and Star Trek. One does not need to be a "literature geek" to appreciate that there are a variety of genres in literature and one man's meat is another man's poison. Just because college professors deems a written work literature does NOT necessarily make it so. I will agree that LOTR is entertaining but I for one CANNOT put it in a class with Dickens, Bronte, or Shakespere which are true literature not just a written work. Yes it is an epic..but God how long should it take to end an epic..LOTR III is still ending!

I don't want to be flaming you, but I just want to say that I think it's kind of harsh to label LOTR as "just written work". The trilogy is pretty much solely responsible for reviving fantasy literature and the genre in general and is one of the most popular books of the 20th century. Not to mention there are SO many underlying themes in the books and ties to religion, social structures, and many other things. I've also seen quite a few criticisms tying Tolkien to authors like those you speak of (Milton comes to mind immediately as one Tolkien is often compared to). LOTR has become a classic just as much as Great Expectations, Wuthering Heights, or Hamlet has. It's just a newer classic. :)

Anyways, I'm sorry you got dragged to M:I III. My DBF had no interest in going, so I lucked out. ;)

My husband is making me go to see MI today. Please God, let me fall asleep. I HATE these movies but he has free tickets!! I went to all three of the Lord of the Rings torture movies. I sat through most of a Star Wars too (left when the explosions and blasting got to be too much and went to Willy Wonka does that tell you how bad it was). I can tell you the plot w/out seeing it...shoot, shoot , shoot , explosion, shoot, run , shoot , break in , shoot, exploison, explosion, shoot, GIANT EXPLOSION...Tom is now safe and so is the world. I wonder if TOM will be jumping off any couches in this one...no wait that was on Oprah...same difference.

To add to the torture..last time I went to the movies I almost tripped over a small rat or a large mouse running between the seats. Luckily there was a railing behind the handicapped spot so I could put my feet up the whole time but I was afraid the mouse or rat was going to run up the side of my seat and get me!!! :confused3 Oh and I did tell management and they did not care even though I wrote a note to corporate.

If I am lucky maybe I can sneak into An American Haunting this time...I find ghosts much more enjoyable than pseudo intellectual actors who feel the need to chronical their lives while promoting a series of shoot em blow em up movies.
Lord of the Rings and Star Wars -- UGH!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't put Mission Impossible in that same group. It was a good movie, although I think Tom Cruise has gotten way out of line and way too conceited!
