Missing TS credits leads to huge headache! MB problem?

We just got back from Disney today, wanted to share our experience at dinner last night.

We ate at San Angel Inn for our last dinner and were planning to use our last to TS credits. Waitress scanned our bands prior to serving to confirm we were on the DDP. Great food, awesome dessert, my favorite meal of the trip!

Then came time for the check. She brings us the first receipt, I write in the tip, and give it back. She brings the check back to the table and wants to confirm if we were charging this to our room. I said of course not, we were using our remaining TS credits, as the meal came to almost $80 for the 2 of us. She says we don't have any credits left. Ummm..problem!

I asked her to recheck and even gave her both KTTW cards to use. Nothing. TS credits = 0. I knew I had planned our meals perfectly and I knew we still had credits to use, I even had my receipt from our last TS meal that said 2 adult TS meals remaining. So where did they go?

She and the manager had both come to our table to try and figure this mess out and basically said we'll either charge this to your room or take your credit card and you can figure this out later. I said no way. I did not have an extra $80 laying around for this meal.

I ended up using the manager's phone to call Pop Century's Concierge to check our folio. The CM was dumber than a box of rocks, seriously. She proceeded to go through EACH meal credit we had used from day one including snacks and quick service. She FINALLY got to our table service meals and said we had used them at 1900 Park Fare, Mama Melrose, and Tutto Italia, which was all correct and should have equaled 6 credits. She eventually figured out that 1900 PF had charged us 4 credits....to which she said that some restaurants charge 2 TS credits for the meal a piece and PF was probably one of those restaurants....seriously? By this time I was seriously losing patience. After being put on hold for what felt like forever (probably 5 minutes), she comes back and says they replaced the credits. No explanation, just that they replaced them. I would not let her hang up until the meal was covered and the credits reappeared, which took another 5-10 minutes.

This whole scenario took up close to an hour to fix and by the end I was so irritated. I'm still not sure what the problem was. It sounds like 1900PF was charged twice, and the waitress there was having trouble with our MB, so maybe that caused it? But that doesn't explain why our most recent TS receipt still showed 2 credits remaining..

Just want to give everyone fair warning that are using MB to pay with meal credits. Be careful that it only charges once and watch your credit availability to avoid unnecessary stress.

Wow. Thanks for the warning and sorry you had to deal with that! Glad to hear your meal was good.

Sorry you had such a bad experience and had to waste so much time. But I'm glad it worked out at the end.

That may not be a problem with MB. We've had that happen with KTTW cards. It just depends on the waiter. More frequently, I've had CMs take off extra snack credits because they swiped twice thinking the first time didn't go through!

I could be wrong, but I think 1900 Park Faire is one of the restaurants that is 2 TS credits for 1 meal.

**edited to add....I was wrong, it is only 1. Glad you got it corrected and stood your ground.

Like most of the character buffets, 1900 Park Fare is still a one credit meal, just so you know, i*heart*minniemouse.

Glad you persevered, OP, but sorry it took them so long to get it figured out. Usually they are faster at fixing obvious errors like that.

No, it's not. Park Fare is not a signature restaurant for any meal.

This does happen occasionally, even without the magic bands. I guess the moral is to know your credit counts and your restaurants. Don't really like that they tried to pass it off as a 2 credit restaurant, possibly to get the OP to back down and go away.

Thanks, Hopefully all the hiccups w/ the new MB will be worked out soon. Glad that it worked out for you, how frustrating, I would have been very :headache:upset to.

Sorry this happened to you. It happened to us years ago when DDP was first implemented. I did pay the checks when they were presented and then complained to the Manager at the hotel. They refunded the money and restored our credts to what they should have been at the beginning. We had a few extra 2 credit meals and lots of snacks to take home.

Glad your credits were restored.

We've had this happen and find its much more simple to have them charge the kttwc then sort it out back at the resort,
Takes much less time.

Sorry that happened. Good thing you had your receipts with you so you knew exactly what you had left. Did anyone at least apologize for the incovenience? In not, it's time to write to Disney to let them know of your experience and your time involved. Otherwise how will they know the problem?

I was wondering how the bracelets are going to work at Table service meals. Can you please explain the process.. do they bring a scanner to the table or do you give them your bracelet or what???? What if I don't have my KTTK card with me?

Bring your KTTW card with you everywhere. You never know when a scanner might not work and your card will need to be swiped

As a note, you can always check at guest relations (and probably concierge/front desk) for a print out of dining plan usage.

I had something similar happen a couple years ago when they somehow closed out my original reservation and opened a new one without a dining plan on it (and charged for the room again). Luckily, this was the first day and it said I had none, so that was a tad more obvious.

Glad you got it sorted.

As another note, you can contest a charge at the resort too, so you could have charged it to the room, then gotten the dining plan stuff taken care of at Guest Relations and had them take the charge off your room. Not saying that's what you should have done at all :), just throwing that out there as another option if someone else hits against this and doesn't have the time right then to take care of it at the restaurant (or the restaurant people are jerks about it.)

Same thing happened to me last month but I didn't have a magic band. Had breakfast at 'Ohana on a Tuesday. The following night we went to dinner at Maya Grill and noticed that we had 3 fewer credits than we were supposed to. Since we were staying at CSR, I immediately went to the front desk and they found that 'Ohana had double charged us. It took about 10 minutes to resolve the issue and they were very apologetic but it was still very frustrating.
