Hi ya Uncle R Sure do miss Concourse Steakhouse, Steerman's Quarters,and Pepeete Bay. Do you have a menu for PBV? I know we had dinner and brunch there several times. I have a "Minnie's Menehune" pin with Minnie in a hula skirt. I think it says "Breakfast with Minnie" or something like that.

I guess you can tell my time line, but I miss Harry's Safari and Juan and Only's ... Fl residents used to get great rates at the Swan and dolphin!

I only wish I had saved a menu!
But I can still tell you what I had for dinner that first night in 1975--Pigs N' Prawns. The appetizer was scallops in a very light lime and coconut sauce. The entree was three large slices of pork loin, and 3 very large tempura style shrimp--half again as large as the entrees we see today.

I miss the Concourse steakhouse.....I actually think my 17 yr old son misses it more. It was one of the VERY few times he let me take his picture without "the look". If I remember right they had the Butterfinger Cheesecake & those 2 words together equal his favorite food !!!! He LOVED it & was so sad when I told him it closed...Well as sad as a 17 yr old boy can be about Disney & a Rest..

Just for fun, I went way back to the 1982 edition of the Birmbaum Guide. It had the following sit-down dining establishments in the Contempoarary:

Terrace Buffeteria, apparently one in a line of buffeterias now represented by Chef Mickeys.

Terrace Cafe, served an all-you-can-eat Italian buffet

Pueblo Room, also on the concourse, served "fairly straightforward meat, chicken, and seafood dishes" (I thought chicken and seafood were meat!)

Outer Rim, served dinner at the time. (no reservations)

Gulf Coast Room, continental cooking.

Top Of The World, buffets for breakfast and lunch as well as its dinner show.

I don't have any personal experience with any of these, as they were all mostly gone or highly renovated by the time of my return to the World in 89.

Also, at the Polynesian, there was the Coral Isle Cafe. But except for the name and decor changes, I'm not sure I'd say this was really different from the Kona Cafe currently in the space.

One last little note: the Dolphin opened with Ristorante Carnivale. I suppose the birdnfish people decided they didn't need two Italian restaurants, and so changed this to Juan and Only's.

Seasons! Thank you! I was racking my brain last week trying to remember the name of the restaurant at the Disney Institute. Had a nice meal there, but only once, never got back before they changed that resort. Miss the Disney Institute too.

I want to say the Neverland Club is the old Tangora Terrace building, but could be wrong. Isn't that where they used to have a character breakfast. I remember always having breakfast with Minnie at the Polynesian when I was a kid and dinner at the Top of the World - with the "lounge show".

We always enjoyed Palio as well. I think Bonfamilles was my favorite though - such an underated place. We had our wedding reception dinner there in 2000.

Adventureland Terrace - that is the one counter service I miss. I liked the pineapple teriyaki burgers when I was a youngster Of course the Food & Fun Center at CR had the best hot dogs ever - or air hockey made it seem like they did!

I miss some of those too. Spoodles was my favorite and I was so sad to see the change, although I do enjoy Kouzina. Not a TS, but I recall a breakfast pizza in Epcot in Horizons that was very good.

My Dad still raves about the French Silk pie he had at the Odyssey Cafe in Epcot back in 1988. I'm sure it was just a thawed out Sara Lee, but he thinks it was the best dessert he's ever had.

I miss the afternoon tea service at the Rose & Crown. Either R&C was not open for lunch or it was a very short lunch window. because the restaurant completely closed, and then around 2 pm they offered a single-sitting tea. NOTHING like what the GF offers now: a proper British tea, set price, no menu. Scones & clotted cream; then little sandwiches; then dessert pastries. All you cared to eat of each. And, of course, a nice civilized pot of tea to go with it.

The Land at Epcot - Farmers Market - loved the food and can still sing the song!!

Does anybody remember Easter Brunch at the Lake Buena Vista Cub, if you want a brunch like that they have it at the Peabody in Orlando now.

I loved the Empress Lilly! the character breakfast there was so fun

Soundstage restaurant where Playhouse disney is now. I loved that the Aladdin characters were there. And the buffet was good!

Fireworks Factory - Best pulled pork I ever had. I REALLY miss that place.

They had the best hot wings too. Just the right amount of sauce and juicy instead of dry like so many are.

I miss the Concourse Steakhouse the most though, and even the Concourse Grill before it. Good food and great service at a decent price. You don't find that on property so much any more. I used to stop by there on my way home from work for dinner at least a couple times a week. There's no other restaurant on property that would tempt me to do that.
