I Know this is a hot topic but my son will be only in Pre-k but would it be horrible if I take him out of school the last two days? I remember the last few days being activities and a party bit that was years years ago!

I am a teacher and always take my kiddos out of school for Disney trips :) Don't worry about it for a minute :) Family time is precious and should be valued :)

The last two days of Pre-K? I wouldn't even think twice about that! At that point, even kids in a higher grade, they aren't doing anything but watching movies.

I'll be pulling my 7 year old next year out of her second grade class for 2 weeks in either Jan or Feb for a Florida trip with us and my parents, which will include a few days at disney. And while I'll be working with her teacher to keep her up for it, I'm not going to apologize for it. Not all learning is done in the classroom, and considering she lost her grandmother last year time with the grandparents is very precious. If I manage to earn my second trip, she'll be missing a few days in May as well.

Youre going to get a lot of conflicting information. The school issue is a HUGE debate!

However, its pre-k!!!!!!!! I wouldn't think twice about it.

I'm personally in the pro-taking kids out of school camp, and I plan to do this myself with my DD7 in September. She will be in second grade.

A lot of people have strong opinions on this, both for and against. And every school, child & family are different.

Only you can make the decision.

I would do it if I was you, my sons school don't get out until this Thursday and his teacher told the parents that after Tuesday they last two days won't count against the kids attendance for the school year since it gets turned in on Tuesday. So maybe check with the school and ask the teacher if they are doing something special those days that you want your kid to be part of then wait until after they get out of school if not then take them out earlier and have a fun trip. I will be taking my 1st grader out for a week long trip in sept and his school does a approved learning trip for Disney so the days he misses will not count against the attendance record

Is it for this year??? Only think I would suggest is finding out when graduation is and IF that is important to you, decide if you want to miss it or not. I took my kids out though middle school so no issue at all for me and my two could have cared less about class parties or field days if WDW was on the table.

It may be a bigger deal to him to miss the last two days with his friends than its likely to be with the school. I doubt you'll find anyone here making a big deal out of missing two days of pre-k.

My daughter is in eighth grade and heading to high school next year. If I pulled her anytime the last three weeks of school, SHE would have had my head - their eighth grade dance, awards ceremony, concerts, school play, end of season sporting events and the end of year eighth grade class trip to the local amusement park. But that's eighth grade.

Yep wouldn't even think twice about it. They didn't even count attendance at school the entire last week. We are taking ours out for an entire week in January. As long as they can keep up at school I will continue to do it.

Because of all the snow days we had this year, i'll be pulling my K and 4th graders a week and 2 days early instead of only 2 days early...I say go for it!

Agree with the "wouldn't think twice about it" posters. Although our DD missed her last day of pre-K and will be missing 4-5 days of first grade for Disney so I am biased. :) DD's preschool doesn't have a graduation but they did have a music program and popsicles which happened to be the day before the last day of school so she didn't miss any of the special events.

I'm ridiculously sentimental, so I probably wouldn't. On the last day of my kids' pre-k so far has been 'graduation'. Our school doesn't do the caps/gowns deal but I do dress them nice and get pictures with their class and teachers and they do a little 'ceremony'. I'd just decide if that is important to you. They wouldn't miss anything educational in the last two days of pre-k

Absolutely! I think the time will come when I will not want to pull them out but figured that will start in middle school at the earliest, high school at the latest. Agree with everyone that for pre-K, wouldn't give it a 2nd thought.

young ones 2/3 grade and under, no questions asked. Do it. out of respect I give teachers as much notice as possible.

I have pulled mine the week of Halloween and week before Christmas.

This year school ends next monday.. Great planning!!! Should I really blow a weekend for one day of school, is there anything academically occurring the last day of school? Maybe in high school, but k-8.

Pre-k? Pre-k isn't mandatory in a single state. Take him out if you want! I wouldn't even question this.

I would rather pull him out for a week mid-year than the last 2 days. That graduation is so stinking CUTE!!! Also, the sense of accomplishment for finishing the year.

Just my opinion. Obvs. he won't remember any of this anyway, so do what is best for the whole family.
