Missing school Disneyland worksheet?

I've heard stories about kids being sent with an educational Disneyland worksheet/scavenger hunt when they've missed school to head to the parks. I think I even remember Michael Bowling mention sending his students with one in the past. Does anyone have something like this? Our Kindergartner will miss a couple days this winter when we head down to Disneyland this year. Thanks!

Yep. It's a couple of days, and it's kindie. No need for worksheets.

Not a judgment, just reassuring you that missing a couple of days of kindie doesn't affect anything at all.

If your little one had a cold and missed a couple of days of school, you wouldn't worry about them "missing out" on work. Same applies here.

Even in 1st/2nd grade when actual work is missed, we try to do it all on plane going or coming...we just have no extra time, honestly. Enjoy pulling them out in kindergarten where they're not missing a whole lot, because it gets much worse as they get older :)

I actually design some! I haven't been on in a really long time. So, don't know how to send it to you! I have a Small World Theme and a Snow White Theme.

Leave school behind and let the kid have a good time. For a child that young the trip will probably be more educational seeing all the new things and people than sitting in a class. Have a great trip!

Raised 2 boys, both college graduates, believe me, missing a few days of elementary school, especially K, won't hurt. No need to bring school with you unless the teacher asks for something (usually with older kids). I remember one year they had to keep a journal (mostly drawings) of what they did each day. When they were in band, they needed to do something musical, so we went on the Mark Twain riverboat and watched the band. Have fun!!

Thanks for the parenting advice. Now that I wish I hadn't asked this question I'll justify my curiosity on the possibility of a Disneyland related worksheet while on vacation during school days.

Disneyland vacations are not new to my kids and I actually thought having something new to do could be fun. I wasn't asking for a times table worksheet, but rather questions that get her thinking like, "What country is the real Matterhorn in?" It could be fun to talk about while in line and give her opportunities to talk with cast members or other guests.

It's also important for young students to value attendance at school which is why I don't want to pretend it doesn't matter. We're choosing to take her out of school so both parents can come on the trip and she is ultimately the one sacrificing to make that happen.

Again, I don't plan on having her "do school" on vacation. Just a fun activity WHILE one vacation.

We bought a few books off Amazon - one on Hidden Mickeys, one called The Secrets of Disneyland and one called The Great Disneyland Scavenger Hunt. I have no idea how educational they will be but I think we will enjoy reading them on our trip down at least. I also bought a Mickey Mouse Mad Libs so there's that. :teeth:

My girls are in high school, I have no idea if these would be interesting to a kinder!

What are your sheets like? I'd love to see them. Maybe send it in a private message?

We love finding hidden mickey's even at home to keep the magic going but maybe getting an actual book would be fun this time. Thanks!

I don't have a specific worksheet. We *do* have the book "The Great Disneyland Scavenger Hunt." There's some easy, medium, and hard questions that could bring up some educational fun. Some of the questions are simple math ("How many skeletons are there on the first beach in Pirates of the Caribbean?") and geography ("What flags are hanging in front of the Matterhorn?").

I've taken my kiddo out of school a few times for Disneyland vacations; her teachers have always encouraged "mindful learning"--that is, teaching her on the go with basic information she'll need for life that she wouldn't necessarily get at home. We spent some time on concepts like telling time via Fast Pass return clocks (some are analog, and others are digital), and more geography (we fly from Oregon, so we pull up the Google maps and see where the plane flies; also fun to see where the Soarin' Over The World locations are). Some counting for money ("we need to pay $14, so how can we count to 14 with these numbers?").

I'd love to see some worksheets, though! Two of our grandson's love "paperwork" things, and something like that would be awesome!

Glad to hear about the scavenger hunt book - we ordered it and its supposed to arrive today *fingers crossed as we leave tomorrow*. Driving from Oregon though!

Oh wow, this sounds like so much fun! The scavenger book, not the drive -although we are driving from Oregon as well in a few days.

I always pulled my kid out of school for a week when we were going to DL (no way was I going to battle school holiday crowds lol). Her teachers always sent her with "some" school work (we asked for it), but I never had any Disneyland specific stuff.

ETA: With kindergarten I wouldn't have bothered. What are they really missing?
