Missing Minnesota girl

This is happening locally and what's more frightening for the family is that they've cut back the search efforts.
I think what's happened is that because they haven't found even the smallest shred of evidence, they can't continue to use as large a search team.

The weekend she disappeared there was a Polka Fest in town that attracted thousands of guests from out of town.....people are guessing that it could easily have been someone from out of the area who did this. Sadly, they had 4-5 hours of lead time before the family started looking for the little peanut.

We've been donating like mad for the search efforts. They needed tons of simple low cost items that we drove over to the team last Thursday night. Paper plates, towels, bug spray, energy bars...stuff like that.

Please keep the family in your prayers. I can't begin to imagine what they're going through.

This is horrible. The very first report I read qouted the parents as saying "she went to play about a block and half away" and that "she was told to be back in 1/2 hour".

I certainly don't feel like they deserved this in anyway at all, but HELLO? Who lets their 5 yr old walk a block and a half away and expects this 5 yr old to keep track of time? I'm sorry, I do feel the parents should not have let her go alone.

Please don't flame...

I do hope they find this young child and bring her home safe!

Lorix2, these are things everyone is saying...don't feel bad for expressing it.

The only thing I can say is that Chisholm and many of the surrounding communites are VERY SMALL towns. The feeling of safety because it's a tiny community is very evident, but obviously inaccurate.

I have NO idea what to tell my grand daughter to help keep her safe...she's 7 and we DO let her out to play for sometimes an hour or two at a time. Of course, if I don't HEAR her outside, I usually check every 20 minutes or so...but.....still, the missing girls parents assumed that she had made it to her friends home.
It COULD have happened to us....

I agree as well. Although I definatly don't let J.C. out even at 11 years old in Greenville for very long without me knowing....I have a friend who lives about 35 miles south of here in the country. There are probably 300 people in the town and her kids play outside for long periods of time. It scares me as well....Even when we lived in the trailer south of town if I didn't see J.C. for 15 minutes or so I was calling the cell phone.

Thats the main reason I give him one......

I sure hope this baby girl is found safetly. Its so so sad!

Beauty - same thing here.

My DD11 has to call me upon getting to her destination, which is only up the street, but it's out of my sight. If she doesn't call within so many minutes, I call there to make sure she's there.

But my 5 yr old is not allowed out of our property without adult supervision.

Also - for the bus in the morning, she has a good walk, so we use walkie talkies to keep in touch and let me know she's getting on the bus.

We cannot be too careful or overprotective with any age children these days.

Unfortunately, this family found out in the most horrible way...I pray for her safe return and all our missing children everywhere.

My prayers are with little Leanna and her family. So very sad these disappearances are. :(

It's a very scary story. They haven't put out an amber alert still right - because the have no leads and no evidence that she was taken. :(

Chisholm is a very small town and close community. Ihope they get some leads or are able to find something soon.

(hauntedmansiongeek, are you from chisholm?)
