Missing Gift Basket

I ordered a gift basket for our DD sweet 16 from perfect gift. Shirley is awesome and wonderful to work with. We customized it to her tastes and I couldnt wait to see her reaction when we got to the cabin. Well it was'n there and I called Shirley and she said it was delivered . We got the run around from Disney who said all kinds of things from " it was'nt delivered " to they "lost it
We talked to housekeeping who said they would look for it.
The next day we recieved a bottle of martnellis and choclate covered strawberries in our room. The next day, all hands on deck was in our room and then the next day they delivered a plate of cookies.
I talked to housekeeping and guest services and informed them that I was not going to pay for the basket and that they needed to talk to Shirley.They told me I would be credited.
I called Shirley when we got off the ship, she told us that Disney delivered the basket to wrong room!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that someone would keep someone esle's gift!!!!!WE were all upset including Shirley.It blows my mind though that some wouldnt return a Birthday gift, that so cruel. :sad2:
 
I'm so sorry that happened. I can't believe the person didn't call to GS. That happened to a someone on our cruise too...but luckily the people were nice enough to call and get it to the correct cabin. I hope you, your daughter, and the rest of your family had a great cruise though!!!! Once again I'm sorry that the people weren't nice enough to call and figure out where the basket should go!! Happy Sweet 16 to your daughter!!!! :cheer2: :flower:
 
That does completely stink!!! Who knows (and I am REALLY reaching here.....) maybe it was someone elses birthday in the wrong cabin and they....Okay, its really reaching! Sorry to hear you put so much thought into that basket only to have someone else dig in to it. The good thing to hear is that DCL admitted they screwed it up and took care of the financial end of it at least. Cookies won't make up for the disappointment, though :guilty:

ACK!!! I can't believe it! Has this happened to anyone else? I'm getting 2 baskets from Shirley and I'm so excited about see the surprise and excitement on DDs faces--don't tell me I have THIS to worry about too!?!?!!

Shirley told us this has'nt happened to her in three years. I guess it was just bad luck. If by some chance its not there I would contact housekeeping right away and insist that they find it!!And of course call Shirley.But I would try not to worry. I posted to vent, not to worry anyone.
 
We did have a great cruise, and rebooked a 7 day!!!! :flower:
I think I will write DCL though to follow up on what happened to us. We had to sign for our REAS basket so that means that whoever recieved DD's basket had to sign for that. As far as I am concerned they stole her basket. :guilty:
I will use Perfect Gift again. as Shirley is amazing!!!!!

Wanted to commend you on your great attitude...Shirley is fantastic, and I am sure she feels as badly as you do...Imagine keeping a basket that does not belong to you!!!!!!!! :sad2: The world is round, may they get theirs....Kudos to you for your great attitude.... :goodvibes Hugs to you and your family.. :grouphug:
 
Just for info - we did not have to sign for our two baskets from Shirley last December - they were both in the stateroom when we arrived......
 
We had a similar situation - we arrived in our cabin and the champagne bucket from DCL that I ordered was there for DH & myself, but the baskets from Shirley at The Perfect Gift for our teen DSs were no where to be found! We also got the run-around from DCL when I immediately called. I called several times, upset, thru the afternoon - persistence paid off - they were finally located and sent to our cabin later in the afternoon. I was so dissappointed, tho, as I was looking forward to the surprise for the boys -they didn't know I had ordered the baskets.

The baskets from Shirley were amazing, tho - the boys loved them, especially the small Castaway Cay portable radios ( I think they were discontinued by Disney and Shirley bought some for her baskets). Those little radios worked for quite awhile on our way out to sea! :goodvibes

We didn't sign for our baskets either last week. The stateroom attendant had my DH sign something for the Castaway Club gift and the TA's gift but there was no mention of the gift baskets. (We did get the 2 baskets with no problems though)
 
We did not have to sign either, but there were tages identifying who they were for...Very hard mistake to make.. :sad2:

Guess I was wrong about the signing part.
The tag was addressed to DD and said Happy Birthday to Lindsey. Love Mom and Dad And also had a mickey Happy Birthday Ballon attached!!
Oh well mistakes happen that I can live with, what makes me mad is that someone just took it! :guilty:

I could not agree more....Sadly.. :) I know if it were me, I could not look at myself in the mirror...
 
You have to keep in mind though....not everyone is knowlegable about Shirley and the perfect gift...and not eveyone on board knows as much as us dissers do...I'm not defending who ever did get the basket...but maybe....just maybe they didn't realize it wasn't for them....Okay...I know there was a tag with someone elses name on it...and it was a Happy birthday basket....but I do think alot of people celebrate birthdays and anniversarys while on-board...even if it's not actually their day. Maybe who ever got the wonderful basket was just REAL unaware...and by some chance...or for some reason thought it was either for them...or forgotten by the guest before them????

I am sorry this happened. I know how disapointed I would have been if that would have happened. All the preplanning to make everything as perfect as you can....then bamm....something like this has to happen.
 
I had order a basket for my mother from Shirley and was ready to see her face when she walk in and seen it, guess what, no basket, called Shirley and she said it was del. to the ship, and they had a diff. stateroom #. Disney said they del. it to the right room, they did not. The room that Disney del. it to came to my room and del. it to me. Thankgoodness for kind cruisers.

Come to find out Disney switch our room # after I order the basket from Shirley.

I will be ordering 2 more baskets from Shirley on my next 2 cruise with Disney, I will just recheck my room# right before we fly out.

On our cruise in July 01 I ordered flowers for my mother from Shirley. The flowers were delivered but the card with what I wanted to say "Thanks Mom for a wonderful vacation, etc" wasn't with the flowers - it was a plain DCL floral card with just her name on it. So my flowers were delivered, but my mom had no idea they were from me! She thought they were from the concierge. I had to tell her no, they are from me & DH, to thank you for our vacation. I had no idea who to call. I did mention it to Shirley after the cruise but she is at the mercy of whoever delivers them once she gets them to the ship.
 
Fingers crossed my basket I ordered gets to my IL's room!!

I thinks that really stinks that someone would receive a basket and not check to see who it was from and that it was theirs. At least you think they might call GS to let them know. When we cruised in Septemer, we had an island survial kit delivered to our room from beverage service department, it had someone else's name on it as Family of the week, but our stateroom number. We called guest services and the conceirge to make sure this wasn't a mistake, though we thought perhaps the names on the tag were for the people who had cancelled their reservation for this suite. As it turned out it was a mistake and belonged to another family. However, they sent them a new one and let us keep the one that was delivered.

A note for future cruisers, keep in mind that all of the stateroom gifts, ordered from either DCL or Shirley don't always make it to the state room before you do. I think they have the same kind of time frame to get them delivered as your luggage. Again in September we order a birthday basket from DCL for our Aunt, it wasn't there when we boarded, but was delivered later. They have a lot to do between debarkation and embarkation and there just isn't enough time to get everything delivered. So don't be dissapointed right away.
