Missing food at Disney

We were so sad to discover last week that the gjetost (the cooked goat cheese slices) was gone from the cold buffet at Akershus. The server told me the servers were unhappy about it too. They seem determined to stamp out every semblance of Norwegian-ness out of Akershus.

Why would you expect there to be Norwegian food in the Norway Pavillion? Ugh, don't you know that's a princess meal???

:rotfl:

I wanted so much to have lunch in Norway before they princess-ized it! Oh well, I guess I will just have to settle for Aquavit in NYC!

PS - to the PP that wanted Alfredo's Alfredo, there is another Alfredo's in NYC that I am almost positive was connected to the one that was in Epcot.

I really miss Sunday brunch at Top of the World. I also loved the Penne Marco Polo and dessert souffle from Flagers.

the strawberry swirl at MK - it was a "must-have" at every visit.

This is going back. The chicken Miori (maybe spelled wrong) at the old Coral Isle Cafe, the salads at Odyssey and the cheese bread at The Land Grill Room, just to name a few.

Now I'm hungry.

Another vote here for the Fettuccini Alfredo at Alfredos in Epcot , I always use to follow it up with their choclate mouse or tiramasu.

And also the last time I was there I ate at Le Cellier and had a seafood pata dish that I can't find on the menu any more.

They also eliminated my favorite sandwich from Columbia Harbour House (the name escapes me, but it was the one with the broccoli slaw--NOT the tuna sandwich). Now it's chicken nuggets and more chicken nuggets. :(

Im so bummed. I was really looking foward to that for my next trip.

Tusker House CS rotisserie chicken - best CS meal on property.

:sad1: Same here...I miss Tusker House for the ability to get food and sit outside and listen to the drummers/dancers for lunch. Great carrot cake they had also.
It was a great place to eat when they had the old vouchers for $11.50.

I miss the old Boardwalk Bakery prior to it's outsourcing - when they like actually made donuts and breakfast goodies rather than just selling krispy kremes.

Poutine at Le Cellier. We had it back in 1999. I am guessing we were the only people that ever ordered it. The restaurant probably thinks they are to good to serve it now.:snooty:

The hot lunch options at Trails End. Haven't been there yet to test out the "cold" lunch, but why oh why did they take away the hot fried chicken?!?
Breakfast platter at ABC Commissary

Remember the little bakery window inside Tusker House? It was great place to get a fresh cinnamon roll before heading to a morning Killamajaro Safari.
I also miss the salmon meal there.:sad1:

Here's mine:

Watermelon juice at Mexico
Bread bowls at Columbia Harbor House
Lady & the Tramp waffles at Tony's :sad1:

Yes, I remember the cinnamon rolls at Tusker House! Except I originally remember when they were served HOT. A few years ago, when they still served cinnamon rolls, they were served COLD (aka room temperature). I was really bummed. (And I always got the rotisserie chicken for lunch!)

Potatoes at 'Ohana
Beaver Tails in Canada
Cheese sauce at Cosmic Rays :sad2: (Do they have it anywhere else?)

We visited Cosmic Ray's in July and saw cheese sauce.:goodvibes

I miss the strawberry swirl in MK!

When did they stop making the spicy cheese pretzels? We were there in May and they still had them... they're my favorite! Please tell me it's not true! :scared1:

They didn't have them in August, and the girl at the counter had no idea what I was talking about. She convinced me to try the cream cheese pretzel. Three bites (one for each of us) and it ended up in the garbage. YUCK! It seemed everything dd really wanted was gone this time.

The little bakery window is still there, but now it's just outside. The cinnamon rolls and turnovers were almost as good as we remembered. They aren't hot like they used to be, but I think they weren't 2 years ago either.

I forgot about those and YES we looked for them in MK in July and they were no longer there. BOOOHOOO. We all loved them.

Can you miss an entire restaurant? :goodvibes

Papeete Bay Verandah at the Poly
Town Square Cafe before it became Tony's; when it served breakfast
Getting a real, freshly made peanut butter (no jelly) sandwich at Aunt Polly's
Concourse Steakhouse
Chef Mickey's when it was at DTD, then called the WDW Shopping Village

Candee

I too miss when Town Square cafe served breakfast. I also miss Crocket's Tavern from when it was a sit down restaurant, not just a bar.
