Missing food at Disney

I may be alone here, but I miss the old Jasmina salad at Marrakesh. It used to be a bed of lettuce with four little scoops of traditional Moroccan salads. I think one had shredded carrots and one was made with tomato and eggplant. Anyway, it was yummy. When I ordered this last time, I noticed the menu description now read an "assortment of fresh vegetables" and not "an assortment of fresh vegetable salads". When it came to the table, I was so sad to see an ordinary salad.
I also wish the counter service desserts were not those little prepackaged ones.

Not so much a food item, but I miss the old version of the Akershus buffet, before the Princess Invasion.

Quite often, at about 11:30 when I am at work, when I am getting very hungry for lunch, I really start jonesing for the fish and chips from the UK pavilion.

At dinner time it is usually sushi from the california grill.

Pooh's Hunny Pots. They were Chocolates filled with liquidy golden caramel. I cried when I found out Disney stopped making them. We would bring home bags of them as souvies.

The chicken satay from Chakranadi Chicken Shop in AK. That stuff was soooo good!

Also I miss the old Tusker House. That salmon was my all time favorite counter service meal. Before that I used to get the beef stew in a bread bowl which was really good too.

Beaver Tails from Canada.

The old WDW hot dogs. We used to go to Casey's every trip but we stopped going. The new hot dogs they serve are inedible.

Beaches & Cream used to have an amazing chocolate cake that we really miss. It was fudgy and rich and the one they have now doesn't hold a candle to it!

Tusker House CS rotisserie chicken - best CS meal on property!

Also, the creamy chicken vegetable soup they used to have at Cosmic Ray's.

The "Fresh from the Harbor" meal at Liberty Tree Tavern. It was cider cured salmon on griddled pumpkin bread. Great Googly Moogly it was astonishing. I ate it every time we came, usually twice. Now, it has been replaced by a salmon sandwich that features mayonaise. ICK!

I really miss the Beaver Tails. I grew up eating those, but we called them Elephant Ears. When they were made right in front of you, hot coated in cinnamon and sugar. It was nearly a religious experience. I wish I could share that experience with my kids.

I really do miss the stir fry noodles from the ABC Commissary. I always thought it was good. Was so disappointed when they took it off the menu. Probably won't be eating there anytime soon. I hear the food quality has gone way down.

We are planning a trip to WDW this winter and I was upset to see the Maple Glazed Salmon is off the menu at Le Cellier

Have you had the Maple Glazed Salmon at Artist Pointe? It's great.

I remember commenting on a similar thread, and I of course remembered something else I had written there, too. In addition to the other stuff I listed in an earlier post, I miss:

Mickey shaped butter served at the full service restaurants.

Sure, let's decapitate Mickey and spread him on our bread! Yum! I don't see why kids would freak out of this. I think they have no problem doing the same with their chocolate Easter bunnies. Well, that "kids freak out" excuse has been floating around, but I really have no idea why they stopped doing this. Unless it was a huge waste of unused butter?

Now that you mention it the Mickey shaped butter was gone this time around!!! What next, elimination of Mickey soap from the hotels because kids might be too afraid to rub his likeness away?

Anyways, the food item I miss is the alligator they used to serve at Flagler's. I had it only one time, in 1989, and have not had alligator since. It was delicious!!! I understand Flagler's closed about ten years ago (a shame, it was a great restaurant) but is there any other spot in WDW that has a similar dish?

Briar - well kids certainly don't seem to mind biting the ears off the Premium Mickey icecream bars. I don't buy that excuse for a minute!

The Pineapple with Caramel at O'Hana's and the Goat Cheese Ravioli at the Brown Derby! ( I know, it sounds weird, but it was great!!!) Also, the Concourse Steakhouse.

Do the make Mickey-shaped pancakes anymore? Or do they just arrange 3 regualr pancakes on the plate to kind of look like Mickey? I remember back when CP was a cafeteria-style restaurant and they made the Mickey pancakes to order. My sister and I used to beg our dad to make special "Minnie" pancakes at home - all three connected with pretty raisin eyes.

I miss the waffle french fries they use to serve in the hamburger baskets in the late 80s. My kids loved those.
