Missing boy Ben Ownby from Missouri Found alive with another missing boy!

I know! The way I figure it is that Devlin must have moved around a bit after he kidnapped Shawn and then changed his appeareance. Probably hair dye and taking out the earring. Now that he is 4 years older he has probably changed so much that most wouldn't recognize him from the picture. It just makes me sick.

Actually, the weird thing was that at least one of the local reporters here was saying how eerily similar he looked to the "aged" photos they'd circulated in the years since he disappeared (the ones where they digitally alter the original photo to simulate what the child might look like years after going missing.) I don't remember seeing any of the aged photos and only saw a quick glimpse of Shawn on the news tonight, so I don't know for sure myself.

I still just can't believe they actually found them both!!

Hi Beth---

Another St. Louisan here (about 10-15 min. from Kirkwood)-----are they thinking Shawn made these strange entries on the blog, or the kidnapper?? May I ask what network news you are watching?? I can't believe this guy has worked for Imo's on Kirkwood Road for 20 years.

I've been watching Fox 2. They don't know who actually wrote the entries. This didn't come from the police, someone at Fox was searching the blog tonight and found the entries. There were several entries about a year ago.
I know one of the entries was "How long are you planning on searching for your son."

What an amazing story. I'm so glad they've both been found alive. I was so happy when they broke in with the news this afternoon. :) Having lost a child of my own these kinds of things break my heart more than ever. :(

I couldn't imagine having a child come home after 4 1/2 years. My prayers go out to them. It's absolutely wonderful, but it's going to be so difficult. I also hope he can get all the help he needs.

This is so heartwrenching. I cannot imagine what Shawn and Ben have gone through. The thing that really gets me is the uncountless times I have been to the Target, Walmart, gas station, you name it, on Kirkwood Rd./ S. Lindbergh------could we have all seen Shawn in passing and not have known it?? My heart goes out to the boys and their families.

I am here near St. Louis. I can't stop watching the news to hear every detail of this. Just amazing!

I was watching 5 earlier and now Fox... I saw this too. :sad1: They just had the friend that gave the description of the truck to the police he was so happy... what a hero.

Didn't you think the early picture of the kidnapper looked nothing like him.

There is another post on that blog from the user name ANNONYMUS that says something like::

Why aren't the police going to the homes of convicted child molesters?

Could this have been him too? Calling for help?

That is wonderful that both boys were found. How awful for the 15 yr. old to have to live with that pervert for all those years. He probably threatened to kill the boy or his family if the boy said anything. It just makes me sick. My youngest son is 11, the same age this boy was when he was kidnapped. It is scary that there are people out there that would hurt children.

I saw that movie about the boy named Steven that was kidnapped and held for 7 years. I think the person that kidnapped him got less time in jail than the number of years he held Steven. They need to lock these guys up and throw away the key.

I was thinking the same thing about the earlier photo.

Thank goodness Ben's friend gave such a detailed description of the truck.

I am from the St.louis area also and this is just amazing! I am so happy for the families. My prayers go out to those boys that they are ok. I can't imagine what they have went through.
That guy looks so familiar to me. I work at Crestwood mall and am always around the kirkwood area.

I am so glad they are both home. I can't sleep thinking about how the family even begins to recover from this. Thankfully they will have a chance to! Good reason to give my own kids an extra hug tonight.

This brought back memories of a true story that they made a movie about called "I know my first name is Steven". It was the story of Steven Stayner from California who was abucted as a child in California, and escaped after 7 years when his abductor took another child and saved him. Did anyone else remember this? I don't know the circumstances of what happenend in Missouri, but just so glad it had a happy ending.

I saw the movie for this--and followed it through 2 additional people articles.

He married Jodi..

He ended up dying in a motorcycle crash. :guilty:

How wonderful for the boys to have been found.

Why has the scum only be charged with ONE count of kidnapping? (someone posted that earlier.)

My big question is......was he going to school? Have they said anything about that?:confused3

They haven't said anything about that yet. If he did he would have gone to school where my DD goes to school. Just freaky!! I drive by that apt. all the time . I just ate at the Imo's the kinapper works at and remember talking to him. They are also say he worked part time at Bopp Chapel (funeral home) greeting people.

I'm watching the news conference for Shawn Hornback right now. He looks good and has been hugging his mom. I hope he is going to be ok.

They are having a news conference later on for Ben Ownby. Just freaky. It still seems so weird.

Shawn's step-dad just said that Shawn had not gone to school while he was gone.

Yes, I was wondering if they were even showing the wrong picture before. Looked nothing like him.

The police have said that that's all they can for now. That once they talk more with the boys and collect more evidence they will add more charges.

Wow that is just freaky. It's just so odd that he would be so visible in the community. I don't spend a lot of time in Kirkwood, but the apartment is right around the corner from my friend's parents house.
