Missed work again yesterday!

Tuesday I had posted that I missed work because of sudden bad pain in all of my joints. I had a doctor's visit and some blood work. I started bulking up on ibuprofen and the pain became tolerable so I worked Wed. and Thurs.--after all my seniors only have one week left! I knew Thursday though that things were getting worse, esp. in my hands, and sure enough I did not make it in yesterday either (the dr. told me I might need ALL of last week off so I don't feel too bad). This morning my neck and knees and hands are bad--but it's always worse in the morning when my meds have worn off in the night (they graciously added tylenol w/ codeine on Thursday evening so I can rest).
As for the diagnosis, it's still up in the air. I know one of the tests was a lyme disease test because it said "parvo" on the slip and I thought "wait a minute, isn't that what dogs get?" :p But my doctor was out sick Wed. and Thurs., and when I called in yesterday afternoon I was told they only work 1/2 day on Friday and they were gone, so they'd call me Monday or Tuesday--a week after the blood work! And I have a follow up visit Wednesday afternoon anyhow!
Today it is gloomy--no rain but damp--and I don't think that helps! DD#1 had a soccer game at 9 that DH took her to--now DS has a game at 11 and then the girls have a dance appearance at noon--and DH has to do ALL of that because I have a funeral at 11 for my dad's best friend--and then after all of that we are supposed to go to Dayton (2 hours away) for DH's cousin's wedding! We may skip that tho', even though his aunt will be plenty mad if we do, because after 2 hours in the car I'd be a cramped up ball.

I do hope you get some relief soon, Robin, and that all important diagnosis. Sure know that waiting 'game'. UGH. Sounds like some busy times for you guys there, don't push yourself, treat yourself with kindness, you deserve it. You are in my prayers, good wishes.

Actually "parvo" would be a test for Fifth disease which is a childhood disease that can be very painful and difficult for adults to have.

The test for lyme's is probably just listed as a titer test or Lyme disease test...

Good Luck...ask your doctor specifically if a lyme disease test is part of your blood work. Lots of Dr.'s unfamiliar with lyme's will poo poo that you might have it...espececially if your area isn't know to have it on a regular basis. It only takes anitbotics to help you feel better..

But with either fifth disease of Lyme's don't let it go...both diseases left untreated can be extremely dangerous for adults...

That sounds just like when my Rheumatoid Arthritis flares up :(

If you want, send me a pm and we can compare symptoms :D

Just saw this and wondering how you are doing. I was diagnosed with "lupus like undifferentiated connective tissue disease" in Sept 2002 and now I also have psoriatic arthritis. Do you get fevers too? PM me if you want!

Today I went for my follow up. I've been doing much better and having different pain--it moves from place to place but at night it can be bad. Last night my elbow was killing me and yesterday it was my neck.
My Rheumatoid Arthritis check came out negative, as did the test for Lupus. My parvo level was high though, which could indicate many things. He said the virus is common but my response to it is not. It is self limiting and will finish working it's way out of my system in a couple of weeks, but will keep getting better (meaning the pain will be less frequent and less painful). He said I can do whatever now, walk for exercise, etc. And I have to go back in a month and get those levels retested (and my liver function which is a little high, but that could also be associated with whatever immune issues brought on the pain).
I also talked to DH's aunt this weekend who is an ob/gyn. She said this is very common in women my age and she sees it all the time--they try to do it all and get all run down and the body sends a signal that things have to change. If they don't listen, it could manifest itself in endometriosis, lupus, arthritis, etc. She told me to get 8 hours a night (I already do actually) eat a good breakfast and lunch and take a good multivitamin each day, plus she recommended grapeseed extract.
So I guess the news is good....hopefully no pain soon!

When I had similar symptoms, they tested me for parvo too...but it was neg. I hope this all improves soon for you!
