Miss America...

What did Miss Texas do for the talent portion?
(I never watch these shows.)

BTW, who sang the "There she is, Miss America" song?

Only the top 5 did talent on stage, so we didn't see Miss Texas' show. The judges had seen it previously in prelims, though. My theory is that she didn't make the top 5 because her talent was weak, and the judges projected forward that she wouldn't be competitive. Her evening gown was stunning and she must've cleaned up in bathing suit, too.
Hmm. Maybe the judges just didn't want the plastic blonde look this year. I did think that Texas had the advantage over everyone, though.

I think that song was prerecorded!

I really enjoyed the show. I thought CMT did a much better job with it than the big three networks ever did.

For only the second time, I picked the winner almost right from the beginning. Not a dance expert here but I thought Miss Oklahoma's performance was lovely. The singer, on the other hand, eww weeee. Simon would have called her apauling. :lmao: <--wow, is that scary smilie! I also enjoyed the pianist.

BTW, the song at the end was done by the original host, Bert Parks. Anyway, I found the show to be fast paced and interesting. Even DH made it through the 2 hours without any negative comments and he usually hates pagents. :teeth:

Hey, I believe ballet has changed my life...

That said, both "ballerinas" (and I use the term loosely) were HORRIBLE! Their legs weren't straight, their alignment was awful, and they were doing things in very strange ways. The one who went on - and said she had been dancing since four - was worse than the other one. I cannot believe how bad they were. :scared:

Yes! I started laughing when she said she had been dancing since 4...I htough, did you take dance for a year and quit till last week?! She was terrible! :scared: The other, Oklahome, was at least graceful most of the time..she needed WAY more leaps to pass as a good dancer, IMHO.

I too felt changed by ballet, but it was not a specific INCIDENT as he had asked int he question.....I took ballet for 10 years and it was a wonderful time and learning experience in my life but certainly not a one time life changing moment/incident.

I'm not much into pageants, BUT...
My sister was friends with Miss Texas in elementary school. Because I met her a few times I was sort of curious! I stumbled across the Miss Texas pageant on community TV one night and heard her name, so I watched. Obviously she won! I believe her talent was singing, but I don't remember what song she chose or if she was good enough to be on American Idol. :rotfl:

Didn't see any of the pageant last night. I am sure Miss Texas will bounce right back from her loss. She has been in pageants for a LONG time. :)
