Misrepesentation of Meal Vouchers HERE, even!

O.K., I know that eBayers will exaggerate what meal vouchers cover, but I went to the Dis Auctions and found the same misinformation there! I've used several QnC vouchers at Beaches and Cream, and I'm so tired of reading that 1 voucher will get the following:

Prime Rib Sub $10.99
onion rings $3.99
smoothie
dessert
tax and tip for total of $32

I've used these vouchers for the Prime Rib Sub, and that comes with fries, hence your side order. Strike the onion rings off that list. The $10.99 is entree and side. Next is the Smoothie which in not on the allowed list of drinks. It's soda, soda, or soda. Shakes, Smoothies, or any specialty drink costs extra. It's still a good deal, but I think it's downright dishonest for people to list these with this specific example. A couple of years ago, you could even get a Kitchen Sink as your dessert, and I have, but times have changed, and these rules aren't new.

O.K., I feel better now that I vented my frustration.

When we were there in February we went to B&C twice and got the prime rib sub both times and I did substitute onion rings for fries but could not get a side order of rings along with fries. As for the smoothie, I didn't ask about that. I feel using the vouchers there is the best deal on WDW property.:teeth:

I don't know if people are necessarily exaggerating, because I think the reality is that restaurants that accept vouchers are not always consistent in how they allow customers to use them. I have read, on the DIS boards, about people being allowed to get smoothies (for their beverage) with a voucher, and have read about people who are allowed to order another side when their meal comes with a side.

I have used vouchers at B&C and my experience is akin to the OP's. I have experienced that if what you order comes with a side, you do not get another side, and we have been told that soda is our only option for drink (no smoothies, etc). We have been allowed to substitute onion rings for french fries.

If I was going to sell these things, on Ebay, or anywhere else, which I wouldn't, I would simply type in what it says on the back of the voucher. A seller would be safer with that approach for sure!

We just got back and my DH ordered the Prime-rib sub (did not substitute the onion rings), but was allowed to order a Smoothie to give to me 8 yr old son who saw it on the menu (my son asked the waitress as she was taking the order and she sure - I am sure she was just being thoughtful).

Maybe the original poster was able to get all of the things mentioned.

All in all, these vouchers are still a good deal at places like Beaches & Cream.

I ordered a burger, and onion rings, and got both the fries AND the onion rings.

But we were told if you ordered a milkshake, it counted as your dessert.

I have to agree with the original poster it seems that the items listed are the exception and not the rule. I know that everything is buyer beware but when sellers use the the best example out there buyers who don't know where to get menu info may feel that they will get $32 worth of food at every location listed on the back. I just feel bad that people are paying so much for these on ebay perhaps under the assumption that they will get that much value each time they use a voucher.

Evidently, the new vouchers (expiring 5/05) do not exclude frozen drinks as the older ones (expiring 5/04) did.

I agree with the OP. The last two times we've eaten at Beaches and Cream, we've used vouchers. We enjoyed the meal and did get more in food than the voucher cost BUT we were not able to get the kinds of the meals the ebayers and even DIS auctioners are suggesting. It seems this restaurant is no longer offering the truly incredible deals it once was with the vouchers.

Those selling here on the boards, at least, should be told to stick to the truth as it exists NOW, or, at least, to say what many diet pill companies now do: "results not typical."

I agree. I don't think it is an exaggeration as we have gotten a similar deal.

I ordered onion rings as my side (not fries) $3.99

As mentioned above, the new vouchers do not exclude frozen drinks, so I think the smoothy is ok.

IMO it totally depends on the CM that is serving you. We were able to get smoothies, get extra sides, ect at B&C & other locations but each time we went we were told something different.

Since the voucher cost is regularly under $12.oo, you shouldn't expect to get $32 out it. I still don't get why anyone would bid for the vouchers, unless they are getting them for their cost..but add shipping and they are usually way too much. That said, it just depends on your waitress, Although we always sub the onion rings, they no longer always allow the smoothie. But it's still a great deal. I got the salad with chicken, chilli for the side (for hubby) and a banana split. and regular drink. Certainly a great deal. At Pepper Market, some get the frozen drinks, most do not..but again, our meal there was $36 and we paid under $12. Today at Rain Forest they let me get the regular drink (lemonade) and coffee with the lunch voucher.

do thes voucher say what you can order at the resturant or do you pick what you want and pay the difference after?

We used q&c's in April. Every place we used them we saved money some places a little some alot. We got smoothes each time we asked for them and were able to sub onion rings for fries and chili cheese fries for fries at several places. I say they are a great deal if you do your homework. If you are not sure what you can have ASK>>>

The Q&C vouchers entitle you to one entrée, on sidedish (if not included with the entrée), one non-alcoholic beverage and a dessert.

The VKLs entitle you to one appetizer, one entrée, one non-alcoholic beverage and one dessert during lunch hours.

You can order anything you wish off the menu of participating restaurants. The voucher covers the cost of the food, tax and tip. If you order anything not covered by the voucher (i.e. - an alcoholic drink or another sidedish), you just pay the additional cost out of your pocket.

This is exactly what I'm trying to say, many of these ebay listers do represent these vouchers as having a $32 value buy listing the beaches and cream scenario. People buying these on ebay, I'm assumming don't realize you can buy them for $11.50. Again it is buyer beware. If I wasn't involved with the Disboards and I saw a voucher on ebay for $20 saying I could get $32 worth of food on it and it goes on to list 48 other locations I probably would have bought some. I would then have to fight back the tears when I got to WDW to find that the deals like that aren't going to be had everywhere.

I am wondering when the rules were changed. It has been about 9 months since we were there, but my dh always orders the prime rib sandwich with fries plus the onion rings and a shake. We share the onion rings and we share a banana split as dessert...using the voucher. I usually order a burger with fruit and don't use a voucher. One time we had friends with us and we used 3 vouchers and then split the kitchen sink between us. I didn't feel bad about ordering the kitchen sink since it was the only dessert ordered using 3 vouchers.

I wonder also if just depends on who your waitress is or if the rules governing the use of the vouchers has really changed.

I actually saw one seller on ebay trying to sell the vouchers saying that a meal for ONE PERSON at WDW can cost "easily" $60!!!! I want to know where they're eating!

I think people who are misrepresenting the true value of these vouchers on ebay are reprehensible. They're outright lying.

We have used vouchers, and we found them to be useful but not a super value. Just as everyone said, they were wonderful at Beaches and Cream -- and we used them for the Kitchen Sink (on the very last day of the "old" vouchers); my girls are still talking about the Kitchen Sink. They were just okay in the other locations. We don't usually buy dessert, and that skewed our real savings; if you buy something that you wouldn't normally buy just "to save money", then I'm not sure it's real savings.

We used the Q & C vouchers on our last trip and found that on an average we saved money.

Our best deals using the vouchers was at the Pepper Market or at our resort, however at the parks we did not do as well.

But you really need to order individual items not the meal deals. This way you can chose your side instead of what goes with the meal.

Some of the listings on Ebay are a little out of whack but like everything it's buyer beware and buyer be aware.

I didn't really buy them to save money, really. I figured I would break even, and bought them to have some things pre-paid. That way I know how much I need to save for other things before we go. Also, my dd (4) and I will share meals using the vouchers, so I figure I'm saving at least $5 a meal just by not having to buy a kid's meal everytime we eat!
