Mispronounced Lyrics

It's called Chroniclyrictosis :p I know lots of people with this!

My DD's favorite song used to be 'Crocodile Rock' and she used to sing 'got an Uncle Chevy and a place of my own' instead of 'got an old gold Chevy and a place of my own'.

So THOSE are the words.:bounce: I always thought it was "Got an old boat Chevy".

And does anyone really know the lyrics to "C'mon Eileen"? I love that song and make up my own words every time because I have NO idea what they are saying.

TOV

Steve Winwood, "Bring me a higher love" I always thought it was Bake me a pie of love!!!!

I butcher "Karmachamelon" for the same reason, can't understand half the words but a great song

The proper term for misunderstood lyrics is "MondeGreen". There used to be a really good site full of mondegreens on the web, but it appears to have gone away. Here is a link to a site that expains the origin of the term MondeGreen and a few examples:

http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?MondeGreen

The original site had the title "The ants are my friend" from the song Blowin' in the Wind. Of course, it should be "The answer my friend...".

Not a song, but I love the Bee Gee's and yet, I can't understand a word they sing... go figure!

Very cool and interesting! Thanks for the new word, TC. I can always count on you for enlightening bits of trivia :). Maybe we'll get that question at WWTB. . . . nah - we'll never be that lucky ;).

How about EVERY line in "Louie, Louie"? I don't think even they knew what they were singing.
