Mismatched socks

DD16 does this. She will even wear a low cut sock and a knee sock at the same time. :confused3

My teenage girls do this, too. Honestly, it drives me nuts because I am so obsessive about matching socks when I do laundry, but it's not something I'd fight with them over. ;) I just kick myself, because even though I know it's pointless, I must fold them into pairs when they are washed.

Wow I guess I am so anal about my appearance that I would not be able to do that but for my DD it's been hard to let it go but I am glad that I am.

I really loved that Miss Matched store in DTD

Oh yes, We've been big fans of Little Miss Matched for a while now. DD & I both wear the socks. ;)

She also has the complete MissMatched bedroom set.

My 15 year old DD has been doing it since 6th or 7th grade. It drives me nuts.

Anyone else have kids that are into this? It's all my fault really. When DD was little Stride Rite would out out these shoes that had a scene on them but each shoe was different. My daughter loved them and was really sad when she outgrew them.

I was in DTD in November and I wandered into the Miss Matched shop. I went a little nuts there buying her socks. I just thought that the concept was so cute. The socks don't match but they are really similar and you have to look at them closely to tell that they don't match.

As expected my DD was thrilled with them but she is going a lot further with it. Each set comes with 3 socks. So she wears 2 of the 3 and then just matches up the extra socks however, these socks are not even close to matching.

I asked her about it and she said that it's cool to do it. Some other kids in her class are doing it too.

Sheesh I think I created a monster, it all started to innocently. I am thus far resisting the urge to force her to match a little but at 10 I am trying to let her have a little creativity in her appearance.

That is so funny you started this thread. Im well into adulthood (coming on 26), and my dear boyfriend is always on my back for not matching my ankle socks. The only way to even know they dont match is if you see me in actual socks and you see the toe portion, is indeed a different color.

He's so retentive about it! I just dont get it. To me they are bloody socks and no one sees them EVER except when lounging around the house :rotfl: oh well...he's taken over the job of putting socks and underwear away HA!

It's the in thing here too. DD14 likes hers to coordinate (one with stripes, one with dots) but not match and DD12 actually got a set of 9 socks for Christmas - none of them matched! :lmao:

Were they from Justice? My DD got that little tub of 9 totally mismatched socks when we were back to school shopping! I think it's cute!

This is one trend that I actually like. I think they look cute and it sure makes my job easier. No more searching everywhere for the missing sock. I just throw all the socks in her sock drawer and I'm done! ;)

This is trendy in my area, too. My dd doesn't do it on a day to day basis (she only wears tiny little no-show socks about 2 sizes too small to make sure not even a hint of sock is showing :rotfl: ). But she and many others wear mismatched soccer socks to practice/games. (She plays rec. The competitive teams are much stricter about uniforms and probably wouldn't let them do it. )

I think it's cute.

LOL, you're a darling. You gave me a good giggle. Now I have to convince my boyfriend to think its cute, that way I can continue to unmatch my socks :rotfl:

I think i will just start warring miss matched scoks and see if anyone ever will notice. I know at some point my wife will if she really washes them. lol i will keep
the trend going.

That is exactly what she got. We thought it was cute, too. :goodvibes

Looking at the picture of your girls any socks would work in any color. I am glade miss matched socks are in because my wife really started the trend and when i give her the credit she is very humble she gives our dryer the credit. What a great humble family i have.

Nice! that's a great excuse I had not thought about, blame the dryer! done deal!

Yes, my 11-year old does this. She also mis-matches her Converse Chuckies. If this is the worst fashion faux-pas she embraces, I'll be a happy mother.

:thumbsup2 I used to do that with my Converse when I was a kid! I think I still have mine....one blue pair and one cream colored pair. Yes, I hang onto things like that. :flower3: My feet haven't changed size since I was in the 7th grade so...they still fit!
