Mishaps & Magical Moments...Day 7 Added!

Joining in! We just got back from our 1st WDW family trip and were there some of the same time you were! Just wanted to comment on your entire family comment. For this trip we invited DH's daughter, age 17, to join us for 3 days, and DH's mother and step-father-in-law invited themselves for 1 day and based on that experience we have vowed that our next trip will be our immediate family ONLY!! What a difference it made having extra people along.

Next trip will be better!

Made it over. Sorry for the room problems but the view from the 2nd is priceless. Great empty park pics. Your boys are just so cute. Their excitememnt is contagious!! Yay for the cruise-my hubby would have done EXACTLY the same thing!!:)

:goodvibes Thanks Mary!! I am so jealous your trip is coming right up. I knd of feel like a need a do over from ours but I need to wait 11 more months. :rotfl2:

Welcome to Day Three of our trip report, "Mishaps and Magical Moments... The Goody's go to Disney again"

Day three: Tuesday February 2nd 2010

Today we woke up to a dark rainy sky, got dressed and headed over to Kona for breakfast. I had the big kahuna and Wayne had the eggs benedict over the pulled pork. (We had the Tonga Toast on the last trip and wanted to try something else this time) The food was really good but the waiter was a real, hmm... how do I say here on the DIS?? Let's just say he was not very nice. One thing he did right away was when the kids wanted hot chocolate, I asked him to add some milk to Owen's... he is two and needs it cooled off. Well he looked at me like I was crazy and said, "NO! Disney comes up with this formula and I am not going to mess with it!" I asked him to bring me an extra cup of milk then and I got the dirty look and "I will have to charge you". It was really weird. Like he just wanted to be difficult. He never asked if we needed anything else, never refilled our coffee... and I had wanted the pressed pot and he didnt bring it and when I asked about it he told me the cups he gave me were the same. (Are they!??) When he brought the bill he had used a credit for Owen and I said Owen isnt on the plan and I was going to pay OOP for him and instead of fixing it he said well you will be paying for it one way or another... Disney will get their money from you I am sure! He was just a weirdo and a not so pleasant start to our day. I think next time we go to Disney Kona is not going to be on our "MUST DO" list.

Here are a couple pics from breakfast:

We walked to the TTC and got on the monorail to Epcot. The walk was only about 10 minutes maybe but seemed a bit longer in the rain! We could have taken the monorail but it seemed to be a pain because you would have to take the monorail all the way around because the TTC is the last stop right before the Poly.

IMG_3917.jpg

Again there was NOBODY in the parks! We didn't need a fast pass at all!! Myles and Daddy rode Test Track, Mission Space, Soarin, and Owen and I joined for Space Ship Earth. Daddy and Owen went on Figment (Myles didnt want to because he was scared... last time he freaked out when he blows air at the end!! - we decided how strange our child was. He had no problem going on Space Mountain but Figment was a NO!) We spent lot's of time doing the inside stuff, that we probably would never had done like making paper!

IMG_3884.jpg

We also did Nemo! I just love this ride- so cute.

IMG_3896.jpg

The rain was kind of on and off and after Nemo it was raining really hard and wouldnt let up, so we decided to go to lunch and see if we could be seated an hour early!

IMG_3913.jpg

We were in luck! The parks were so empty so we really lucked out. Lunch was at Chef de France and right when we got to our table somebody came to pay us a visit!

IMG_3910.jpg

We ate here in May and I am happy to report the service was excellent and the food was really good too!

Wayne had the cheese plate and Salmon and I had a salad and the Mac and Cheese. For dessert I ordered a crepe but didnt like the sauce and Wayne ordered vanilla creme brulee which we all loved. It was a nice lunch and it was great to get out of the rain and dry off a little.

(I am not sure why but I only have pics of Wayne's food)

IMG_3906.jpg

After lunch we headed to Japan and the boys went shopping! They each got a peekachu (spelling!??)

IMG_3918.jpg

It was still raining so we decided to head back to the Poly and try to rest. Owen fell asleep in the carriage and here I really started to appreciate being on the monorail because he could stay right in his stroller all the way to our room and he got some much needed rest!

Myled and Daddy hung out at the arcade while Owen napped and I spent some time on the phone with reservations trying to figure out a change of plans for our dinner. We had planned to go back to Epcot and eat at San Angel and catch Illuminations but with the rain not letting up and with the Tornado Warning.... YES I just said TORNADO WARNING :scared1: we decided to try to get in somewhere along the monorail so we could stay dry! AS luck would have it the Wave had an opening for 7PM!

Once Owen was up around 5PM (nice 3 hour nap!) we hung out in the room and had a little dance party. We could dock our IPOD right in the radio at the Poly which was awesome and we put on our Disney Mix and rocked out a bit. It was lot's of fun.

We stopped in the gift shop at the CR and the boys each picked out a little surprise. We were really spoiling them on this trip. They got something everyday!! Here Myles picked up a little race car (Disney racer) and a Stich car, and Owen got a little race car and a beauty and the beast set.

While we waited for our table Myles and this little boy started playing. They were having so much fun and were so cute.

Dinner at the Wave was SO GOOD!!! Our waiter was Jackson and he was SO AWESOME!!!! The food was SO GOOD- the best I have ever eaten on Disney property. I was so impressed with this place. The restaurant is so pretty too. I just can't say enough good things about this place. It is a "MUST DO" when we go back in February again!!!

I got the Chilli and Beef Tenderloin and Wayne got the Crab Cakes and Cinnamon Pork Tenderloin. Both delish!!!!

After dinner it was probably around 8:30 and we headed home! What a GREAT afternoon and night we had. We just had lot's of laughs and such a great dinner. The kids were so happy. We were not going to let the rain ruin our vacation!

All the food looks so good! I'm sorry to hear your waiter at Kona was being difficult. Sounds like your waiters made up for it later on in the day.:thumbsup2 The boys look so happy at Disney!:lovestruc
I know the rain isn't magical but at least it scares everyone away! You guys were really getting a lot done. How cool that you got to meet Remy. We had ADRs to eat there in May but it was raining to hard to go all the way back to France.

Hi Nickie! I can't believe your service at Kona was so horrible. What a bleep bleep bleep!!! I've been reading about so much bad service at the restaurants lately. :confused3 What the heck is going on? We've always had great service at Disney. Anyway, I'm glad you guys didn't let that bleephead ruin your day!

We have never eaten at Chef de France or The Wave, but both are on our list for December. I'm looking forward to the onion soup and mac & cheese in France and that beef tenderloin you had at The Wave looks yummy! Thankfully your service was better at lunch and dinner!

I hope the mayhem part of the vacation is over and the rest is nothing but magical!!!

Great updates Nickie! That view from your room is so awesome. It stinks that it took crappy service to get it though. I hope we don't go through that. Joe is far less patient especially considering the $$$ involved.

I really want to try Chefs de France. I've been trying to figure out where to fit it in. Do you know when Remy is circulating? The girls saw Remy on the Samantha Brown special last week and they really, really want to see him.

The Wishes cruise sounds so wonderful and so does the Wave. Lovin' your report! :goodvibes

Wow, sorry your server at Kona was so terrible! We went there three times on our trip (a couple weeks before you) and all 3 waitresses we had were at least average/good. Just steer clear of that guy, I guess!

Oh, by the way, I don't think those cups are the same! My DH wanted the Kona coffee (just him, I'm not a coffee drinker) and there was no cup option--he had to get the whole pot! And she pressed it at the table for him.

Glad you had better service elsewhere later in the day. Both Chefs de France and the Wave look tasty--we haven't been to either.

Nice that at least the rain gave you non-crowded parks! You got lots done!

And it looks like everyone had a fun day! :)

So sorry to hear of the terrible service! seems to be catching over there...are the too busy to handle things...I know when Gwendolyn was interviewed it was lenghty and again by phone...I guess you can't figure if a person is ok by that!

But, I am glad to hear that the rest of the day went well and the evening was finsihed on a high note :mickeyjum

hope the sun came out soon! but, I would think rain in FL was better than the snow back home:rolleyes1

:wave2:Connie

That is really to bad about the service-glad the food was good. Looks like a fun Epcot day! Remy is very cute. Yay for a yummy dinner at the Wave-we are eating there in May-will have to see if Jackson is there. Glad the rain did not slow you down-we know all about that :rolleyes1

Ugh, so sorry to hear about the waiter at Kona. :headache: We are eating there in March, so I hope we don't end up with that one!

We've walked from the Poly to the TTC before. We had the same idea- it is just a hassle riding the monorail all the way around to the TTC when we can just walk.

I'm so glad you guys got to make paper! We found this station in June and had so much fun.

Oooh, I'm so glad you enjoyed The Wave! We are also eating there in March, so I'm excited to try it for the first time. Can't believe there was a tornado warning.

Wow, that picture with the castle is gorgeous!!! I also love the pic that you got in the MK with the boys walking towards it!:thumbsup2

Wow, that Kona guy does sound like a fa-reak!!! Glad you didn't let him ruin your day. I haven't posted since you showed pics of your view and may I say O....M.....G....!!!!!! That is unbelievable! Yes, I would have a hard time falling asleep too! Just too awesome. The Wave sounded great. We'll have to check it out one day. You're making me hungry!!! Can't wait to read more :)

Hey Nikkie! Just joining in! We are back from our trip (got back late Sunday) and had a blast. It was COLD but, like you, we tried not to let us get it down! I haven't started a report yet, but hopefully soon!! :woohoo:

Sorry to hear all about your troubles at the Poly! What a bummer! We had a great stay with no problems and can't wait to get back. We were in Samoa.

Your boys are too cute and those pictures of them on the plane with their ears on looking out their windows are priceless! Loving your dining reviews (unfortunately Chefs was our least favorite and we didn't see Remy....:sad1:) but it sounds like you guys had a great meal there! We loved the Wave when we went on our couples trip in May, so it will definitely stay on our list for our next trip (didn't make it over there this time)! 'Ohana was definitely a favorite, as always!

Glad you aren't letting the rain slow you down too much - COLD rain is so much different than warm rain, isn't it? Brrr....:cold:

Looking forward to more!!! That view from Tuvalu is breathtaking!! :goodvibes

Sara

Wow! I wonder what was up with that Kona server? Usually, I would just let it go but if he was that rude, I might have had to talk to someone. So sorry.

I did not know that the Poly in-room radios had docking stations for ipods! That is so great! Now we can watch Stacy on the tv AND listen to our wonderful Disney music. Thanks for the heads up!

Awesome that you ended up in Tuvalu with that view!! I hope your housekeeping got better as well. 'Ohana dinner is the best. Sorry about your waiter at Kona. Usually we have great food and excellent service there. I loved your MK pics of the muppets. I can't believe how much you got done at Epcot on a rainy day. Looks like fun. I enjoyed your pics of Remy too. We ate there last may and, my DS5 loved Remy. But my hubby didn't like the food. Waiting for more of your TR popcorn::.

What a great trip so far! ...despite the mishaps. Definitely going to Chefs de France on our next trip...Remy is too cute! But not as cute as your boys! I, too, love the pic of both of them walking toward the castle. Great shot!

Can't wait to hear more...popcorn::

Jumping on to see what my twin is up to! I have ALOT of catching up to do..

A SAHM?? When did that happen? That is SO AWESOME!!! I am jealous:worship:

Off to read about the Goody's adventures:thumbsup2

That waiter from Kona sounds horrible! :sad2: Glad you liked the food! Did you like the Likoli juice? (I love it!)

Sorry you had terrible weather. This February has been so cold and rainy in Florida.

Those desserts from the Wave look awesome!!!! :goodvibes
