I just saw it w/ my cast (we are so cool, we have outings all the time! haha). It was SO good! I am 20. I obviously wasn't born when this even occured, so I will never fully understand the impact this team had on America. However, from the opening scenes I became entranced (wait, is that a word?... it is now... ), and I really tried to put myself in that setting to try and feel what it was like. Of course, like every other movie I watch, I cried. At like 8 different parts... I'm a sap... I cry when the Devils win the Stanely Cup, so I knew it was coming. Anyways, all in all, I loved this movie, and I really think everyone, especially kids my age should see it.

I believe that it was #2 at the box office this weekend. I was watching the all star game yesterday, and Kurt Russell did a piece on Brooks. They dedicated a statue at Minnasota's arena over teh All Star weekend to Brooks.

Yes, I cried too, when the Devils won the cup - so unfair! Stevens is a DOG. Sorry, sister, very long time Flyers fan/season ticket holder! :D

I was hoping for a better box office take, but from what i read it did 2 million better than they expected.
I plan on seeing the movie tonite. And from having experienced it in 1980 the impact was huge, for a american underdog team to defeat a hated russian tean it was a major deal for American Pride!!!

...and to go on from there to win the gold! I have been a hockey fan since 1973 (dad took me to 1st Flyers game at age 5), but you know, i can never remember who we beat in the 1980 gold medal round, b/c of all the hype about the Russians. I do remember when the Russians played the Flyers, they skated off the ice & refused to continue play b/c the "Broad St Bullies" played a little rough! I think that was back in 1976, but I digress.

My family plans on going to see the movie when they get back from WDW next week. Unless the cast from my store is interested in going - but some saw it on opening day already.

I found the movie to very enjoyable and very well made. Kurt Russell did a great job protraying Herb Brooks and the movie did as excellant job retelling the story and putting it in the proper context(with carter as prez we certainly needed many miracles!!)with the times our country was in. I think it was good to have the hockey palyers as no-name actors rather than starts wh may have overshadowed the story. The hockey action was vedryn good and overall i found it to be a excellant moive and well worth seeing.

I wasn't planning on seeing it (Even though I'm a hockey fan and was in high school then). BUT, I can't believe the great reviews from people that I talk to. WOW!!! They all say Kurt R. was great and all regard it as a great patriotic film too. I guess I have to check it out.

BIG TIME HOCKEY FAN HERE..

Havent seen the movie, but I have heard that you have to kind of close your mind if your a hockey fan because there are several unrealistic things. The movie isnt about the game of hockey, its about how a bunch of kids came together and overcame the odds.
Herb Brooks was a great man. He brought alot to USA Hockey. Had he been alive I would be willing to bet he would have been chosen to the the Coach of the 2004 USA team in the World Cup of Hockey taking place this Sep.

In regards to the 1980 games. It was the semifinal game we played against the Soviets. We won it and then still had to beat Finland in the gold medal game. Herb after beating the Soviets was very pleased, but told them not to screw it up by losing to the Finns. I think his words were something like "youll take it to your @#$@#$ graves"
I might be wrong though...

Go Dallas Stars!!!
