Posted on DIS Community Board, but second thought, may be better if asked here.

Thinking of abandoning my 25+ yr old paper budget method & trying Mint.com. I do have to admit, the old paper method has worked great for us, but I've been letting it slide lately & not tracking & breaking down EVERY transaction into categories like I have for 25 yrs. It's been critical in knowing where the $ goes & keeping us on track of getting to where we are.

Anyone here use Mint.com? Like? Dislike? Is it completely free or any hidden fees? Anything it doesn't do that you wish it did? Do you use someone else?

I use it and like it. It is completely free. I like seeing a snapshot all at once of everything. It will send you emails to remind you a credit card bill is due, you are close to your credit limit, etc. My husband can also log in and see everything without having to login to 10 different websites.

What I don't like is the interface is a little buggy. For example, if I have more than one account at a bank and then for some reason I close one of the accounts, there is no way to remove the old account without deleting that bank's whole profile and losing all my "tags" for the account I want to keep.

Sometimes the link between link and mint gets broken and I have to reauthorize the accounts to appear.

They do try to sell you services in a gentle way on the dashboard like "you're paying too much for cable", try DirecTV." that sort of thing, but no spam or pop-ups.

Is there a way to see if my small local bank is supported by Mint.com without signing up for an account first?

ETA: Nevermind. I created an account & so far all my banks are supported. Still working on 2 accounts though from some of the same banks. It didn't pick up my IRA at local bank. Nor an annuity from a place that has my mutual funds.

I am enjoying being able to see all account transactions and balances from all accounts on just one website or app. That alone is huge! A great benefit since my local bank, our checking account, doesn't offer an app for mobile devices. Being able to check that on the go is awesome!!!
