Anyone have experiance as a single parent? What papers were you asked to provide?

Example: a mom traveling with daughter who she has custody of, father out of picture...

birth certificate- and that was it. I did have my divorce papers just in case but they didn't ask for them. My daughter has a different last name than mine and I was worried,(especially since she hasn't had contact with him in over 2 years) but it was painless.

HTH,

All I needed was her birth certificate. I was also traveling with another mom and her daughter and all she needed was the B/C too.

It probably depends on the CM ... in our group last year we had two single moms with their daughters (both divorce situations) ... one had sole custody & brought copies of the court docs proving it, the other had joint custody & brought a signed notargized letter from the dad saying it was ok to take their daughter out of the country ... one was asked for documentation, the other wasn't. Go figure.

To be safe, I'd say bring whatever you need (court docs or notarized letter) saying you can take your minor child out of the country. There would be nothing worse than to get to the port and have them refuse to let your child board.
