ok so I woke up yesterday over tired and achy which just got worse as the day progressed. I ended up leaving my office around 2 for a long nap before picking up my DD at daycare around 4:30. then I hit the hay early last night and slept hard. it helped but not totally. I was feeling a little congested and still not 100% this morning. now I am fearing a bout with the flu or a cold which for me this time of year almost always turns into bronchitis. ugh. Luckily yesterday was a rest day but I have 10 scheudled for tonight and 20 this weekend!!!! I will probably take it easy tonight but skipping my 20 doesnt really seem like a good option. this does not make me happy!! :(

I would suggest that it is better to tank the 20 than to do it as the run may waken the system just enough for the head issue to move into something more serious. Don't decide until you wake up in the morning. If you are achy or feverish tank it. Otherwise listen to your body.

thanks. I am definitely going to play it by ear. today I am stuffy and tired. definitely not running tonight. I will see how I feel saturday morning before making a decision. I did get my 18 miler in last week (and I have a couple of 15s under my belt) so it hink I am in pretty good shape overall to get to the end of 26. we shall see.

As you've said, you have a good base. Don't worry too much. You sure don't want to push it so you get sicker at this point for sure. Rest.

Get well!

well I woke up this morning and my head is totally clogged. I decided to take the safe approach and only ran 9 instead of the planned 20. I still have next weekend to get a long run in before my taper so I am hoping the head clears up. I didnt want to risk pushing myself today and ruining my christmas or worse putting me totally out of commission! (which happened to me in 2004... I was registered for the half that year but got whacked with a really bad case of the flu over christmas /new years 2003/04 and ended up not running which actually was OK as it was BITTER COLD that year!).

Just got over the flu myself this week. Had my LR last Sunday, woke up Monday with that achy feeling. Felt drained, exhausted, sore thoat, sneezing, coughing, etc....
Busy at work, so no time to take off. Woke up Thursday feeling REALLY bad. Crawled into work, and a co-worker gave me something called Cold Snap. It's an all-herbal supplement that boosts the immune system. Today I was able to get 8 miles in, and I am feeling almost back to normal. I am not sure if it was the Cold Snap that really got me healthly again, but it can't hurt to try it.
Good Luck!
