For the first time, I tried to let AAA do our vacation for us. I told them where I wanted to stay and they said that the Poly was full. I called Disney directly and got the Poly for the time I wanted And a AAA discount. I was asked if I wanted the DDP. We have never done that before and I told Disney that I would have to touch base with DW. Touched base and she gave it a thumbs up. Called back and they told me that because of the AAA discount I had to go through AAA to get the DDP?! 1) Why did they ask me in the first place? 2) Will I have to cancel the reservation and start over with AAA (they fumbled the ball in the first place)? 3) Or forget the DDP? We have doing fine without the DDP all this time. We just thought we would give it a shot... Suggestions?

It's true that in order to get the DDP and the AAA discount, you have to book through an AAA agent. That's the only reason I use AAA agents to book my Disney vacations. If you have a ressie now with the AAA rate, keep it, call an agent, and tell him or her you have this reservation and would like to get it changed over to them so you can get the DDP. I think they'll be able to handle it.

Yep, you can do AAA room only through CRO. But if you want a DP with a AAA room discount you need to go through AAA.

Thank you very much Tam and Skip. Getting hold of the AAA agent is proving to be a problem.

Actually, I went to the web site to ask questions, and then a AAA agent emailed me from the closest office. Once I put my questions to her, she did the leg work and called me back after she emailed me the info. Yes, we will be on the ddp. This way I had everything she had emailed me and I asked many questions..she had the answers and then I wanted to add another day and it was done lickety split...She has been very good and has far more succeeded at my expectations. I hope you can have the same great experience as I have had..good luck:)

*SNAFU UPDATE*

Finally reached AAA agent. She was in touch with Disney and was told that because I had a "room only" reservation and not a package (we have annual passes) we could not get DDP. We would have to cancel a day and add a day and get one-day park tickets and then walk over a bed of hot coals and then jump through a ring of fire while whistling "its a small world". Soooo loooong DDP....

We didn't think the DDP would work for us anyway. It seems like too much work and too much food when on vacation.

Don't forget to stand on your head and twirl rings on your arms, ha ha.

I think it all depends on the AAA rep you get and how willing they are to fight and work for your business. My first AAA rep left quite a bit to be desired. (Actually booked our ressie for the wrong month! Everything that AAA sent us at that time was typed up by them, so it all looked correct. Didn't find out the problem until we tried to check in to the resort!:scared1: Great CMs at Disney hooked us up and took care of everything though.:cloud9: ) Because we wanted the DDP on our second trip, I decided to give AAA one more chance. We got the greatest rep ever! She is so helpful. She truely loves Disney herself so that helps. Don't completely rule out AAA for future reservations. You just haven't found the right rep yet! I think a rep from any location can handle your ressies. I don't think it has to be the closest office to you.

AP holders are able to add dining to their reservations now without purchasing tickets, but you wouldn't be able to do that on your own and still get the discount. If she didn't know that, you may want to speak to another agent. You don't have to go through your local AAA office to use an AAA agent, maybe ask some of the folks here who have good ones to pm you with their info.

Ok, so maybe its not a done deal yet... If you have had an exceptional AAA agent, could you please point me in the right direction? :worship: A private message will work if you don't feel like broadcasting info.

I think you have to make a choice:

1) The dining plan as an AP holder which does not require a ticket purchase

2) The AAA dining plan package which does require the purchase of a ticket

I didn't think you could combine the AAA discount with the dining plan and not purchasing a ticket as an AP holder. To others-is this not correct?
