Wednesday, Nov. 6 - EPCOT
Up early again to take advantage of EE, this time at Epcot. Arrived b/4 8:00 and got another awesome parking spot. Epcot was letting people in b/4 8:00 so no line which was real nice. At the gate an Epcot CM was riding around on a Segway that DH was really interested in. DH struck up a conversation with the CM and another interested tourist. DH learned Disney paid $8,000.00 for each of its Segways. The Segway was really cool looking.
We walked right onto Spaceship Earth. DD wasn't too sure of this ride b/c it is very dark at first. But once she saw the people through time writing she perked up a little. Our Tatiana always has a pencil, crayon or pen in hand and is always writing in one of her many notebooks.
Now the bad thing about Epcot's EE for us anyway was that there was not much open that interested us. Spaceship Earth was about it. Universe of Engergy was open, but we decided against it b/c of the dinosaurs - DD would be way too scared. Test Track was the only other thing open. We were hoping Imagination, Land, Seas, or Innovations would be open. Bummer.
Needless to say we were at rope drop for the "Imagination" side of FW. We headed right over to "Imagination" and got into line b/4 the ride had even started. It was neat to see them testing it out and we were in the first car out! DD liked Figment. He's cute. The lab after the ride was very cool! We played with all of the exhibits since there was no lines for any of them. We also sent several digital picture e-mails to our families back home. Very fun!
Just a note on the weather today. It was raining off and on, but we were having some wonderful luck. It only rained when we were inside a pavilion! I'm not kidding we would come out and be surprised to see the ground all newly wet again and a sea of Mickey ponchos.
Anyway next up was the "Land." We hit about a 7 min. wait for the boat ride. DD really liked the greenhouses! She was pointing and naming all the fruits and veggies she knew or tell us what she thought they were. We had a snack here and looked in their gift shop, some interesting things here.
Next onto the "Seas." Also about a 7 min. wait here. We all loved looking in on the sea animals and spent quite a bit of time here. Also saw the manatees eating.
As we exited the Seas we decided to see if we could get a table at San Angel Inn at Mexico. We didn't have a ps, but thought we'd give it a try as it was only 11:30. We got there about 10 minutes later and were seated immediately!
This is another restaurant we have always wanted to try, but just hadn't yet. The atmosphere really sets the tone here, dimly lit dining by the water canal overlooking the pyramid. Fantastic! The food was yummy too! Plus margharita's and mexican beer, ole!
After lunch we played around in the Mexican marketplace and also listened to the Mariachi band. DD loved trying out all the musical instruments. DD also decorated a "kidcot" mask. We left Epcot around 1:30 that day and headed back for "nap" time.
Since we were loving OKW so much, I scheduled us for a DVC tour so we could see the other property models. The DVC main office is on the Boardwalk which gave us a chance to see that area too. DH had not been to keen on DVC b/4 our trip, but he so loved OKW and we had already agreed we like to vacation at WDW once a year anyway so DH was coming around to the fact that DVC might make sense for us after all.
We liked seeing the other villas rooms. We think we are going to buy resale though, it seems cheaper and we really like Boardwalk and OKW. After our tour we hung out on the Boardwalk for a while taking in the action.
We then headed off-site to eat dinner. We ended up at Joe's Crab Shack, a seafood chain restaurant with very tacky but funny decor. It was better than I had expected. Good seafood for a chain. We all had shrimp and crabs for dinner. We are lucky in that DD is adventerous in her eating and will practically try anything. She sucked down as much Alaskan King Crab legs as her Daddy could pick not to mention all the grilled shrimp from Mommy. She's going to be an expensive date in HS!
Back to OKW to relax for the night. Unfortunetly it was too cold to swim tonight.
Tomorrow: Animal Kingdom
