I thought there was no longer going to be a Minnie in May. Weren't htere rumors going around that the Danskin Tri was going to be on that weekend next year and that the Minnie was probably going to change to a Princess Run in April?

The Danskin has always been the weekend after Minnie -- or, more precisely, it falls on Mothers Day weekend. You are right that there was a rumor that the Minnie was going away, but I think the rumor was that the inline skate might be moved to that weekend -- At any rate, all rumors been laid to rest. At every marathon expo since early September, Disney reps have been saying there is going to be a Minnie in May 2008 (probably the last one) and the Disney website says applications will be online in October.
